This is really cool. I am from Sunnyvale and dont know any vegans. Nearly all my friends are vegetarian and yogurt lovers, so this is really exciting. Unfortunately, this weekend being the long weekend, I am going camping; but I am in for any future meetups.

Depending on how early the lunch would be, I could possibly go on the 11th. :)

lobsteriffic wrote: ooh brunch! Is there a good brunch place around? Well....the brunch choices are kind of limited in south bay (that I know of). There is Hobee's if you want a tofu scramble, fruit plate, or oatmeal bar, and they have some veg lunch options. There's also a Cafe Gratitude in Cupertino, oddly located in the middle of the Whole Foods. They don't really have breakfast, but I think some of their options could be eaten for brunch. There are a few places in Palo Alto that I've heard have decent veg breakfast options (Calafia Cafe and Cafe Brioche) but I've never been so I can't vouch for them.

Omg I love brunch! Any of those places sound good! I love tofu scrambles and it looks like all of them have it. Except for Cafe Gratitude but they have granola and bagels which is also awesome. Can we go somewhere with mimosas? It looks like Hobee's has them... and calafia cafe. I don't see it on cafe gratitude's menu, but they have wine and chocolate milkshakes so that sounds awesome. Also, Calafia Cafe has a Tcho Chocolate Soy Bomb which seems to be a chocolate, soymilk, and banana smoothie! That sounds sooo good. Speaking of chocolate, do you guys want to take a field trip up to Tcho's factory some time? They have free tours: http://www.tcho.com/where-to-buy/tour ... If we go on a saturday or sunday at the 10:30 time, we could even get lunch afterwards, and I could still make it to work on time! All their chocolates are dark and pure without any pesky obnoxious milkfat ingredients or anything. Yay vegan chocolates!

I didn't even notice the chocolate banana bomb. Calafia actually has a pretty extensive veg menu. I'm impressed! We were just talking about how Ghirardelli Square was a bummer since there's nothing left there but retail shops. Hurray for field trips and chocolate! I'm down for almost any weekend. I had a few ideas for future get togethers (hopefully not derailing this thread too much!): -Vegan Iron Chef viewing party It's on July 10. Maybe we could do a potluck? -Field trip to Farm Sanctuary in Orland, CA. It's far....like 3 hours away. Tours are on Sat from May - October.

Yay field trips! I'm totally in. I'm out of town 6/28 to 7/11 but most other times my schedule is pretty open.
I'm in for brunch wherever, the chocolate tour, and farm sanctuary, but sadly vegan iron chef is the day before I fly back to the u.s. (going back to Canada for two weeks). Yay so many fun things! I love our PPK get togethers!

I'm in for the animal sanctuary, the chocolate tour, or pretty much anything. A potluck sounds like fun!

Is 11 AM an acceptable brunch time? I might have to go to Gilroy in the afternoon sothat time works best for me, but if everyone else votes later I can try to rearrange some things.
Dina is that an okay time for you to still make it to work on time?

Calafia cafe looks like a pretty good option. Having never been there before, I am up for giving it a try. Plus, I could never say no to tofu scramble first thing in the morning. Are we considering any other options?

oh yeah, I completely forgot we didn't pick a place. :) I'm easy-going, totally doesn't matter to me. Tofu scramble seems to be a popular dish so let's go somewhere with that. Calafia?
