Aww...snakes and bunnies! We have a snake living in our yard too--he likes to sunbathe on one of the big rocks so he's usually easy to spot and avoid.

I love the planter boxes of herbs on the deck!

If Mrsbadmouth's idea doesn't work, get some soil moist-comes in natural or regular, it's a substance to mix in soil and it holds water so you can cut back on watering your plants. Another option is to invest in a drip system with a timer.

I would still have someone come check on them even with a timer, every time i've tried to use one it failed and I came home to half-dead plants.

I got a second wind! And more importantly, so did my boyfriend. He built this awesome bed for me:

With a bunny-proof fence. Hopefully. I planted a bunch of seeds: broccoli, a variety of peas, and delicata squash. I desperately hope they all work out. I also planted a bunch of flowers, some from seeds and some I just bought.

Ugh, the hot weather totally killed a flower patch today. But in good news...the tomato plants are gargantuan, peas are coming up, and so are tiny broccoli sprouts (just planted them a little over a week ago.) Oh and so is the pumpkin and delicata squash!

are those beautiful zinnias the flowers that died? i have some about 5 foot high and it's winter here... they must really hate the heat huh?

Nooooo the zinnias are fine. It was a bunch of different ones like violas and impatiens.

I effed up but good! I planted the peas and the delicata squash in the same bed, figuring by the time the squash vines got big, I'd have harvested the peas already. Well. That's not what happened, and now the vines are completely overtaking the peas. I guess I should try to move the peas in order to save the squash? Or just leave everything and see what happens. Oh and on top of that (almost literally) the squash vines are busting out of the fence. What was I thinking?

Well you're allowed to trim your squash as far as I know but you'll obviously get less squash that way. I'd either move the peas or stake the squash so it leaves room around your peas for sunlight, because once your peas grow big enough to trellis, the squash along the dirt would be nice.

Today was bittersweet! I pulled up all my pea and broccolis. I think I'm going to do the same with the delicata because I think they're over. Then I'm going to try and see if some beets will grow and scatter a bunch of kale seeds everywhere. So sad that gardening season is coming to an end!!! How long till April?
