Places to eat? We're road tripping to Disney in August.

p.s. if you can tell me where to find key lime pie (gluten free would be great, but if not, I'll deal) I will love you forever.

I lost my own thread! Ha. Also, re: vegan key lime pie per Vantine's advice I called http://www.raphsodic.com/index2.php#/home/ and they said w/ 24 hours notice they'll make me my very own vegan gf key lime pie!! And I KNOW! FL in August is so bad - I want to go in November or Februrary but that makes too much sense.

Spent last weekend in Savannah - easy to get to off 95, and there were some nice veg-friendly places nearish to 95 in the SC area we were in, but nothing right off 95. It ended up being frustrating to look for food off 95 - my husband wasn't happy at getting off the highway, going into a restaurant and discovering then that all the veg that looked vegan online was in fact soaked in animal, so if my suggestion is just save yourself the agita, if you can and stop into Savannah, for lunch and eat a real meal and enjoy a very pretty town if you can. The places that looked good: http://kayakkafe.net/http://www.happycow.net/reviews.php?id=9173

I recently made the trip from Miami to NC, and my family allowed me to stop twice in Savannah for: http://www.happycow.net/reviews.php?id=4486The BBQ tofu wrap was good. The lattes were awesome, and there is a cute thrift shop next door to it and a health care store. The baked goods in the Sentient Bean were awesome. I seriously recommend it. They're really eco-friendly and it has a nice atmosphere. My omni sister and dad also enjoyed the food. It's about 3 minutes from the 95, tofulish is right in that it can be hard to just try and look somewhere else. When my parents wanted to just stop at a quick fast food place in another city, the only thing I could eat was french fries. Savannah is so nice. The houses are pretty, too.

The Sentient Bean looked so nice! And its in the gorgeous old part of Savannah, so much nicer than a 95 rest-stop.
Nothing sucks worse than trying to find a place to eat on 95, looking up menus online, thinking you can eat the food, getting there only to find out that there is nothing vegan past fries and a green salad (and as a pregnant lady, fries and a green salad were not going to cut it). And I think the heat made even my normally calm husband get stroppy about my veganism and how it makes his life so hard.
If I were doing the trip, I'd pick places to go just off 95, call (some veg-friendly places do only brunch on Sundays and that means no salad etc - just eggy dairy concoctions) and have them all lined up and agree to stop there, even if they're a few minutes off the highway. And lots of luna bars and snacks.

Also in Winter Park is Austins Coffee which has vegan baked goods and sandwiches. It's a fun place. Drunken Monkey has a better selection of vegan food and Toby loves their vegan brownies. It's near the Loving Hut but I am not a fan of that particular Loving Hut. If you are in Orlando again, Toby needs to get you a Drunken Monkey brownie. Bergedy and I went when she was in town.
