I'm in Indiana! Nowhere near Bloomington, though, sadly. Actually, I'm in the northeastern most county: Steuben. Hyper-conservative here (even more so than the rest of the state, if you can believe that!). Not that far from Fort Wayne. You would think FW would have some vegan options, considering it's the second-biggest city in IN, but alas, not so much. Nice to know there are other PPKers living in Indiana -- makes me feel much less isolated!

Yes! to B-town pitch-in.

And now that the weather is getting warmer we could meet up at one of the parks with a shelter, maybe. I'm fond of Lower Cascades.

Have you ever been to Loving Cafe in Ft. Wayne? All vegan and run by the nicest couple, on north-side of the Fort. They have a lot of Supreme Master brochures/info about, but it is not too distracting.

http://www.lovingcafefw.com/

Other favorite Ft. Wayne options are Baan Thai, the Three Rivers Co-op,some of the dishes at The Dash-in, but alas, not much else is very memorable. I was born and raised in Ft. Wayne, and feel your pain over northeast Indiana options (but fortunately now live in Bloomington).

Thank you, petese! I've not been to the Loving Cafe but I'll definitely check that out sometime this summer!

Hello! I just moved away from Indianapolis after living there for about 5 years. I can give advice!

Oh, goodness. Why didn't I check here first? I was there last weekend for a business trip, primarily subsisting on apples in the hotel lobby and oatmeal. The best we found was a tapas place that had a separate vegan menu. Tasty, but expensive.

I live in Granger. Right next to South Bend. It feels like a vegan wasteland here, but I bake vegan desserts for a couple local restaurants-- so there have to be vegans somewhere!

Representing Lafayette here! I don't anticipate finding much of a vegan community around here, but I'm always hopeful! I went to a meetup in Indy, but I don't want to travel that far and waste the gas...

Wow, how did I not know of these places? I'm originally from South Bend and I always dread going home to visit. I usually just live off of Cambodian Thai and Cliff bars. This is very exciting!

The events in the past 5 years, meat outs, etc..., have been all vegan except for the first year. They never market it as such though so they draw a larger crowd. Its worth going. Lots to eat. As long as they dont have the same chef as last year. Arg! It was all healthy tasteless crepe that was over or under cooked. Not a good representation of vegan cooking. They do change venues and caterers every year so I would guess that it will be really delicious again this year.

Transitioning to vegan here and living in Indy. Curious about VegFest and excited to have discovered these forums. I have looked at this site many a time, but never paid attention to them.

Jewbacca, I remember you from Bloomington! I worked at soma circa 1998-2000, in the Dylan days :)

I’m excited for VegFest. I’ve never gone but I am this year. I hope it’s worth it and not just a bunch of stuff covered in cheese. I do know one vegan vendor will be there and looking forward to his food.

Have any of the Indy people done a meet-up? I’d be interested if one happens.
