Today sucks, man. I guess from Saturday night really when I had to pee a million times. Then yesterday I peed about every 15 minutes all day. Then this morning I went to the doctor and she said I had blood in my urine which was probably from a UTI, and prescribed Bactrim (and diflucan for when the antibiotic gives me a yeast infection; and vancomycin in case the antibiotic causes c-diff). So I got that filled, closed on my house re-fi, and went to work an hour early. I had some crackers, and took the antibiotic, and about an hour later started getting flushed and shivering violently. I put up with it for another 2 hrs before I left and came home. My temp is 97 (v. 98.9 at the doc today), and I'm all bundled up on the couch with tea and PJs and bathrobe and blanket and space heater and still I keep having bouts of shivering. I got some sketchy warning from the pharmacist about sulfa drug allergies, but chills isn't listed as a side effect. My question then is -- what the hell? Is the infection causing the chills? The antibiotics? My immune system going "AHH ANTIBIOTICS!!?" I was right to leave work, right? My supervisor acted like I was nuts as I shook in her doorway.

I'm sorry you are feeling so miserable. It definitely sounds like you were right to leave work; how productive would you have been there anyway?!
Call your pharmacist!

I wrote this, fell asleep for an hour, and woke up (needing to pee) without chills or a flushed face. I guess if it happens again after the next dose, i'll call my doctor in the morning. I really didn't sleep at all last night, so my body may have just been doing "AHHH!!!" from infection and antibiotics and things.

I got really bad chills once when I had a UTI. Then I started throwing up. Turned out that I had a kidney infection and needed hardcore antibiotics. Please take care of yourself!

I really, really, don't want to go to work right now. I think the antibiotics are working though because I feel slightly less like my bladder is about to explode. I do, however, feel like crepe based on the fact that I have to eat something to take the antibiotic, and drink 8 oz of water, and my stomach loathes anything first thing. Three saltines and I haven't even finished the 8oz of water and I feel very ill.
