I want this helment: It's about time to replace mine, methinks, but I'm having a hard time justifying spending $130 on one... even if it is really nice.

Your head is worth at least $130! My motorcycle helmet was $200 and makes me look like a mushroom head; sexy it isn't, but it had the best safety rating without spending a lot more.

Oh, I know, but there are plenty of just-as-safe helmets out there for far less. The extra expense is for aesthetics and slightly less weight, not any extra safety.

Same with motorcycle helmets. I wish I could afford a carbon helmet, but they seem to run $500 or so. I guess I put my money into the bike and not as much me looking good while riding it.

Bicycle helmets are all equally as safe, unlike motorcycle helmets. The cost is due to increased ventilation, fit, and lower weight.

You're going to pass this on to Bike Santa for me, right?
People keep telling me my cable lock is going to get cut off, so I would really like to get a nice U-lock to replace it.
And I want either a seat or a trailer for my kid. A trailer makes a lot more sense to me (especially since we'll have a second kid next year, and will want to haul that one around too) but my spouse (oops, my partner) is really against them for some reason.

i've been lusting after these hydraulic disc brakes for a while, so last week i picked up a pair of them. they're a used set, but in mint condition, and cost rather a lot of money (£245!) but i'm VERY pleased with them...
