Boyfriend added for scale.  It hasn't flowered yet, I wonder if it will and how crazy that will be! Will bunnies climb it to get the seeds?

So big! It might be a mutant sunflower plant, but don't panic.
I once grew a sunflower that was taller than me, but I was three at the time so I don't think it counts.

my parents used to get really huge asparagus sunflowers in the yard. and from what i remember, michael had them in his yard too, but our idiot neighbors ruined them so they're not out there anymore.

we had really tall ones in our yard last summer (at the old house... didn't plant any here at the new place), and one day i saw a squirrel sitting on the flower eating the seeds. i couldn't believe the flower was so strong / the squirrel was so light!

that's amazing! i tried to grow a sunflower 2 summers ago and it hit like 6 inches and died.

I'm so jealous! I tried growing some sunflowers from seed this year and nothing. Then after a couple of months one popped up and started to grow. Then I went outside one day to find it shriveled up and dead. I planted it in the plot but I doubt it's going to grow.

OH my god giant sunflowers! I was driving through the country a while back and I saw a sign that said "Guinness world record blah blah" and I was like "huh?" and suddenly in someone's yard was a 20+ freaking foot tall sunflower- almost double the height of the 1 story building. I don't think it made it into the record books, but I peed myself.

Wow that's an amazing sunflower!
I'm amazed by the ones in my yard, although they're not nearly that big. But amazing because I didn't actually plant any! I guess the birds must have scattered seeds from prior years around, because the last 2 years sunflowers have just popped up in random places in my yard! I need to take pics this weekend because both of them bloomed this week.
