Maine and maine-adjacent people! lets make this happen! we should hang out and go to the green elephant or something. Or we could do a potluck, I offer up my tiny apartment as a meetup staging place if necessary.

The Green Elephant is awesome and I want to go, but I have no idea how my schedule's shaping up for the next month yet.

I will be staying at my mom's in OOB at the end of July, so if the dates math up I'll join you (with a baby).

hey, whenever you guys want to hang out is fine, when you know your schedule just let me know. I live in the west end so there is literally no inconvenience for meetups anywhere downtown (as long as it is the weekend)

I'll be in the Portland area Wednesday 8/17-Friday 8/19. Anybody want to meet me (and my 8-month-old) for brunch/lunch? I have not been to Silly's in forever, but I'm up for anything. Mornings and lunch work best for us, since the kid gets crabby if his afternoon nap is messed up. Plus we're visiting family and probably have to have dinner with them, so, yeah. Daytime.
Anybody? Boober?

HELL YEAH would it be do-able on friday morning? or is that the day you guys are leaving? I've got classes in the mornings (until noon at least) on mondays-thrursdays.

We are leaving Friday evening, so totally do-able. What time works for you?
Where is a good place to have brunch that will have something gluten-free for me and is okay for babies?

Any time on friday works for me! You mentioned silly's and I know they have GF options, also they seem pretty kid friendly. There is also the green elephant which opens at 11:30 for lunch and has several gluten free options. The only other vegan place that is open early enough for brunch/lunch that I can think of is Local Sprouts and I'm not 100% sure about their GF stuff, I know they have GF baked goods in their case, but I don't know about the menu items since they change daily. I am open to anything if you have somewhere in mind!

If it's okay with you, let's do Silly's at 11am. I never get to go there because my husband hates it (?!?) and if we go when they open we can be leisurely. Friday 8/19. Be there or be square! Looking forward to meeting you!

Coincidence! I'll be in Portland on the 8/19 as the boy and I are flying in en route to a wedding in Southport. We'll be hitching a ride with the bf's sister and bf, but we'll probably stay in Portland that night. Dinner suggestions? Also, we'll be without a car but want to explore downtown before our flight out on the Sunday. Would there be anywhere that we could stash our bags, etc? Like a bus station or something? Any info would be helpful. Also, meetup for an afternoon snack on the 21st perhaps?

boober, I'm not the one driving/planning the non-Portland stuff, so I've no idea what time we'll be back in Portland on Sun. Probably not in time for brunch. :(
We like all sorts of food, though I wouldn't mind something a tad nicer for the dinner on Fri. Sun doesn't have to be anything in particular. It would be great to be able to get additional snacks as our flights out are over dinner/etc. Suggestions?
Advice for afternoon luggage stashing? Would there be anywhere that you know of? I tried to look up if there were lockers at the main bus station but couldn't find anything.

I do not know anything about luggage storage, sorry.
a nicer (and exceptionally delicious) place I would suggest for your dinner friday would be The Green Elephant. That place is balls to the wall.

It is a super quick weekend, so we aren't getting in until 5 or 6 and flying out around the same time Sunday.

I am moving to Portland (or Portland-adjacent)! Mr. Mitten got a new job. We are going to look at apartments this weekend. I have to sell or rent my house in Bangor. I am super overwhelmed. But anyway, we will meetup soon! I should be moved by November. It will be hard for me not to eat at Green Elephant every day.

HAY GUYS! I grew up in Maine and went to college in Portland. Obviously no one has been on this thread lately but hey, maybe you'll get an email message saying someone has (me!). I'll be home for Christmas and would totally be into a Portland (the REAL Portland!) meetup. It shocks me every time I go home at how much culinary amazingness is going on in PLand these days... :D
