No Queso Quesadillas are awesome. I saw them in my first skim of the book, and finally tried them out a few weeks ago. They are so simple to make!

I have made almost nothing from this book, I have an addiction to menu plans and so I never seem to have enough time to make the entire menu! Same for Party Vegan. I should start breaking them up a little and cooking more from here.

Part of the reason I don't use this cookbook very much is the way the recipes are laid out. I get what she was going for, but it just makes it hard for me to find things.

For example, if I know I want soup or stew, I can flip to the table of contents in Veganomicon and look at what recipes are in that section. For Vegan Table I have to look up an ingredient or what have you in the index, it's frustrating.

I do like most things I've made out of this book though and I'd like to start using it more. So I think one of these days when I'm bored I will just type out a new table of contents that is laid out more like the Veganomicon one and just keep it in the front of the book.

Lobster - we experienced the same annoyance. We opted for a sheet of paper taped to the back with the page numbers of the good recipes we'd tried. It doesn't really help when we're looking for something new, but at least we don't have to flip through half the book to find the repeats anymore.

Interesting, because I've had the same thoughts flipping through her Color Me Vegan. The way it's laid out is pretty, but not that useful.

I also am not a fan of non-traditional cookbook sequencing schemes. VT is a gorgeous, gorgeous book though and everything I've tried has been good.

Voluptuous Vegan is similarly annoying.

This reminds me that I ought to make the baked beans again soon.

I made the ceasar and I remember it being very good, especially because of the low-fat content. The onion tart was also good.

I just bought this, it's such a nice-looking book. Really keen to try the brussels sprouts (I've never eaten them but the recipe sounds great) and the Moroccan stew.

I like this book quite a bit, but at the same time, I wish I could like it more. I love the idea of menu plans...but when will I ever actually use a planned menu? I have a lot of recipes in here that I intend to make (someday), but have only made a few in reality. Some of my favourites are the Hearty Stew, Scotch Broth, pasta with green beans and peanut sauce (made with broccoli, not green beans), and the red velvet cake and chocolate cake (with the coffee ganache) are divine! Other than that...nothing sticks out as even vaguely memorable.

Last night I made the butternut squash risotto for the first time and it was delicious. That creamy texture squash can get goes perfectly w risotto. Also made a double batch of pb&j cookies last week which my boyfriend rationalized as health cookies bc of the protein content.

I made the Cuban Black Bean soup the other day. I cut the recipe in half and I absolutely loved it. I also didn't use broth, but instead used water and it tasted great.

Also love the No -Queso Quesadillas. The hummus and salsa just go great together!!

I am fairly confident I made the African Peanut stew from this book, but can't remember 100% if it was from Vegan Table.

I adore that mac 'n' cheese and I think we can call it healthy with the cashews and lack of veg butter :)

I love the Penne Arabiata and the Irish Soda Bread. I made a whole bunch of the Mexican Hot Chocolate for a party once, and it was a big hit. I did not like the masoor dal, it needed more seasoning. I'm sure I've made other things from it also.

I made the zucchini cakes because I had a lot of extra ones from my CSA. I hand-grated the squash and it still went amazingly fast. I also used corn starch instead of flour to make it wheat free. Absolutely delicious.

i LOVE the mac n cheese from this book. i pretty much refuse to try another mac n cheese recipe from another book cause i feel like theres no way it could top this one.


i made the polenta hearts this weekend. i thought it was pretty good. i dont have anything to compare it to though since ive never had polenta before. i really like the roasted red pepper coulis that you put on it.

i dont have any heart cookie cutters so i used squirrel, duck, and gingerbread men cutters

My fav recipe from this book is the pad thai. It's incredibly unauthentic (made with peanut butter!), but it's so easy and tasty. We make it all the time.

maybe i should finally try it.

i really want to make the thai curry with veggies but it has FIFTY EIGHT grams of fat per serving!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And yeah, my husband and I are obsessed with the Pad Thai. Just don't expect it to actually taste like Pad Thai... more like rice noodles with tofu in a really fabulous peanut sauce.
