Atlanta doesn't have its own thread, so here it is! I'll be visiting on Halloween. Tell me her secrets.

Here are some things to get you started: Dulce Vegan Bakery and Cafe: 1994 Hosea L. Williams Dr. NE Atlanta 30317 Soul Vegetarian 2 (all vegan soul food): 652 N Highland Avenue Northeast, Atlanta King of Pops has vegan popsicles! Sevananda Natural Foods Market (vegetarian market w/prepared vegan foods and hot bar): 467 Moreland Ave NE, Atlanta Rainbow Natural Foods (vegetarian market w/hot bar has vegan friendly items): 2118 N. Decatur Rd, Atlanta 30033 Village Pizza (vegan pizza option): 186 Carroll St SE, Atlanta They have FYH and vegan meats. Mellow Mushroom pizza has vegan pizza and hoagie options. Check individual locations for tempeh availability, if you're interested. All locations should have Daiya now. Cafe Sunflower in Buckhead: 2140 Peachtree Road, Atlanta 30309 Visit Little Five Points for shopping, entertainment and food. Annual Halloween Parade and Festival. You may want to check out Netherworld Haunted House.Highland Row AntiquesKudzu Antique MarketDon't forget to check out the local Goodwills and thrift stores! What are you looking to get into while you're here? Depending on how long you're staying and what neighborhood you'll be in, there are some other places I'd recommend. Atlanta has some great places to visit, but they are a bit spread out.

Oh, good timing. We'll be in Atlanta in a few months as well. Important question: Where can we find vegan donuts? Also, fun kid stuff?

Aw, I miss Atlanta. But yeah, everything posted is ace. Also, I dearly love the Porter for beer, but then the Wrecking Bar is open so someone will have to tell me how it is (aside from my friends).

I'm originally from Atlanta but haven't been back there in several years. Is Golden Buddha still open? I think thats what they were called. They used to be my favorite place. They were open so late, after a show or late night bike ride we would head up there at like 3 or 4 am and have the place to ourselves sometimes. Huge portions too! I think this is it http://www.yelp.com/biz/buddha-restaurant-atlanta

The array of foreign colas in the tasting room is still talked about by my husband and I. We've never had such tummy aches!

I visit the downtown merchandise mart. Are there any interesting and good places to eat or go within walking distance of the Mart?

I've never been to that merchandise mart - beats me! There are several vegan-friendly restaurants about 3 miles or so out from it.

This is the only strictly vegan restaurant that comes to mind (in that area):
Soul Vegetarian: 879 Ralph David Abernathy SW, Atlanta

Its been years since I ate there but can someone dis/confirm a rumor I heard that soul veg uses honey in some things such as a dessert or even their BBQ sauce?

There is an additional Soul Veg on Highland Ave. as well. And don't forget Ria's very vegan-friendly restaurant, Sauced, over in Inman Park. (Her flagship restaurant, Ria's Bluebird, over on Memorial is also pretty awesome and vegan-friendly!)

I always loved Sevenda...from what I remember they carried no meat except gelatin capsules in the herb section. Im surprised that Berkeley doesn't have a vegetarian only store that i know of

anyone who likes food shopping should consider a visit to the Dekalb Farmers Market. (disclaimer: I haven't been there in years). It's not even close to being vegan, but still a veggie/fruit paradise with a good hot/cold food cafeteria, fresh squeezed juice (by the gallon!), cheap cheap spices, bulk coffee, and great selection/price on international beers. It's not a farmers market in the traditional sense, more of an international ethnic food emporium warehouse.

Agreed, JillW. Your Dekalb Farmers Market is worth a visit. They have a fairly good selection of organic fruits and vegetables at reasonable prices (mostly). I don't think their cafe/bakery is vegan-friendly, though. However, Southern Sweets Bakery is across the street. They do have a small selection of vegan desserts and a couple of vegan lunch items. Kudzu Antique Market is down the street, too. SkepticalVegan, I've never heard that Soul Veg allegedly uses honey in their menu items. I'll let you guys know if I learn more about that. Buddha is still open. I've read a lot of mixed reviews about it (like getting meat in a vegan dish), but they do maintain great late night hours. noelalexis2000, Cosmo's is a vegan shoppe that carries clothing, grocery items, etc. They relocated to Marietta from the Highlands neighborhood. They maintain Saturday showroom hours only. How does Willie's compare to Moe's Southwest Grill or Barberitos?

Southern Sweets has, hands down, the best vegan coconut cake I've ever had. We used to carry it at the coffee shop I worked at.
Oooh, I totally forgot about the vegan-a-go-go options over at R.Thomas on Peachtree. I used to love that place!

I haven't tried Southern Sweet's coconut cake yet. I've had a couple of their desserts before (strawberry cake and something else that I've forgotten) and they weren't all that impressive to me (dry and a bit stale). Perhaps it was an off day or I've grown used to organic, homemade baked goods; I will have to try it again sometime. R.Thomas has a pretty good vegan burger!
