Hey everyone, I'm from the keys, not living there right now, but it would be interesting to know and talk about any vegan places there that I may have passed over somehow that maybe I could check out when in town, or something. In Marathon I know there is a new/few years old, restaurant in the health food/ bookstore that caters to vegans and raw food people, but not necessarily all vegan food. My mom tried it with a friend, but I couldn't give a decent review of it from this information, considering she was feeling nervous about the unfamiliar offerings and went with the hummus and vegetable plate.
Anyone else around here, or know good things to check out?

Sublime in Fort Lauderdale is awesome, but you probably know about that. There is a Cuban place on Marathon that has the most amazing vegan plate, but I don't remember the name of it. It's tiny, on the east side of the road, and near the big grocery store. Dang, I'm no help.

Well if it's a cuban place in Marathon, is it Don Pedros? Or the one near the 7-mile bridge on the far end of the island? As far as I know there aren't any more, and winn dixie moved, so there isn't any grocery near the cuban restaurants anymore. But yea, maybe I should check that out. I've always avoided Don Pedros since it seemed like there were places that may be more promising for me in terms of not putting meat in the beans and rice, etc. But perhaps it does have a vegan plate I need to investigate.

Sorry to revive a dead thread, but I figured you might still want info. Beehive in Miami is great! Govinda's is also pretty good, but it's in Coral Gables and I know not many people are crazy about the area, and I'm not too sure it's go-out-of-your-way-good. Sweat Records has the BEST coffee, and it's all vegan. There are some sweets that you can easily pick up, too. I liked their cupcakes, and the use to sell empanadas and patties. One drink is called the Unicorn Love Bomb and it's a double shot of espresso with a Sweet & Sara's marshmallow tossed in. It was great. Once a month they have vegan waffle parties with a toppings bar. This month it was "chicken" and waffles. There is also Thrive and Lifefood Gourmet, they're raw food restaurants that I've heard good things about. Helpful links: http://vegsouthflorida.com/ http://www.meatlessmiami.com/ http://itsveganlicious.com/ (south Florida vegan blogger, hosts events often) ETA: Actually, I have eaten at Thrive. It's really good, my omni father also enjoyed it. We got a smoothie and a raw mushroom pizza. They sell to go raw desserts that were pretty awesome, and in the back they sell vegan sunscreens.

There are lots of new options in Miami now (yay!): Green Gables Cafe, Life Source Gourmet, Last Carrot, Choices Cafe (Brand New), Java and Juice, and the Cafe at Books and Books at the Beach :) The best Miami site, run by our own Lolo (amazing woman!) who owns Sweat Records. http://www.meatlessmiami.com

I have eaten at the Cafe at Books and Books and it was quite good. They had a yummy pizza option at Big Pink too and I think they're open all night. It's good to hear that Miami is getting more options because a few years ago it was desolate wasteland of meat, meat and more meat!

Yeah, it's getting better every year. I'm almost sad to be leaving for college next year, but it's not enough to make me stay. UM doesn't offer what I want.
I'm excited about Choices Cafe, it looks really good!

My favorite place in Key West was "Help Yourself" organic. It doesn't do dinner though.

There's a Maoz Vegetarian and a few Indian restaurants. I don't think you can go wrong with either of those.

The reviews of Darbster in W Palm Beach sound awesome but we never got there...but it might not be any better to get there than more southern Fla if you are in Boca.
