I've seen some interesting things online about kettlebells, such as people getting impressive results, etc and I must wonder how true it is.
Does anyone have any experience of kettlebell workouts and their results?

I've worked with them a little bit as part of circuit training but I've never taken a class with them as the main focus or anything. I know a personal trainer who likes to work with them a lot and her clients really enjoy them. I've seen many other personal trainers at the health club I go to do utilize kettlebells for part of the workout with their clients.
I thought they were ok, but I didn't work with them enough to give you a good review of how impressive the results can be. They were versatile- the instructor had us not only use them as kettlebells (how they're typically used) but we also did things like used them in place of a bosu ball for planks/push ups on them and got creative like that (it was a kickbox circuit training class).
I'm sure someone else has a more thorough review!

I LOVE kettlebells. I mean, LOVE THEM.
Believe it or not, the dvd that comes with the ten lb Danskin kettlebell at Walmart suffices for a good starter, and it's cheap.
I use them in my everyday routine at the gym and will hopefully make it to my trainer's class one of these days.

I don't use them, but my boyfriend was doing kettlebell exercises every other day for a while, and his upper body was toned. He didn't even use them for that long each day (10-15 mins?).

I took a 60 minute Kettlercise class this evening. I wasn't out of breath but boy was I sweating! I enjoyed it as it wasn't as torturous as I'd imagined it would be. The abs section and lunges were pretty challenging though.

We do 'fake kettlebells' in the strength training class that I go to. We use a 10lb plate and do squats and then either an upright row, raise it over head, or pass it from hand to hand (keeping it behind the knee on the squat). I don't know how much of a difference this particular exercise makes, but I love doing the upright row version. Do you think you'll go back to the class, 8ball or incorporate something from it into your workout?

I LOVE them, but I'm not sure about all the baby ones that are around lately. The thing is that you get cardio and weight training in one awesome package. I highly suggest if you can take a class to take one, as bad form can really hurt you as you move on.
Pretty much for a year kbs were my only cardio/weight program and it did my body amazing. 3x a week. Seriously. I have to hop back into it but I need a class to stay motivated and they are sooo expensive out here. Ugh.

Yeah I love kettlebells! We own up to a 53 lb one. I generally use a 25 or 35 lb one though.

My trainer has scheduled some swings into my workout at 16kg. I hurt so bad today!

Old thread I know, still relevant though.
I now work with a coach who specializes in kettlebell sport and train with them in every workout. I'm also going into a UK Open kettlebell biathlon this year. Not sure what I'll be doing but it's likely to be snatch and jerk (either short or long cycle).
I've recently bought my own set of 8,12 and 16kg kettlebells. I love them!

This thread motivated me to try some Turkish Getups, they are so fun! I find 5kg hard enough (especially the initial sit-up bit) but I'm sure I'll be like this guy in no time; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T3gQjVPaqUY
