I have them as companions, too. Planted once and probably never again thanks to self seeding.

We've been eating a ton of broccoli, but I never have it long enough to photograph it. We've also gotten bunches of lettuce, baby chard, thyme, rosemary, sage, and zucchini. And now, tomatoes! Here are our first cherries: They were delicious. There is nothing better than tomatoes right off the vine. I'm regretting not planting a zillion of them.

holy eggplants, indeed. I have no idea how many are out there right now, sometimes a big one will be obscured by some leaves, and all of a sudden I'll find a 3lb eggplant. Here's some of the black beauty eggplants. They're about 5' - 6' tall and loaded with fruit. Here's a couple of the Japanese eggplants. They're short, like 3' tall, and set about 8 to 10 fruit each at a time. I can't keep up with harvesting these. The flavor is amazing on these guys, and they don't hold as much water, so you don't need to "salt" them before cooking. I am now known as the crazy eggplant lady.

So jealous of the eggplants! I've given up trying to grow them because every time I get something, the foliage is annihilated by flea beetles. No amount of DE, or organic insect repellent has worked.

I still don't know if I should post these here or in one of the tomato threads. My darlings!

4 quarts of pickles' worth of Russian Pickling and Picklebush cucumbers. 1 pound of snap beans (Dragon Tongue, Fin de Bagnol, Royalty Purple Pod, Bush Blue Lake 274) in an old EB container, 1 pound of heirloom tomatoes (Pink Grapefruit, Gajo de Melon, Black Cherry, Snowberry) in a Tupperware. Extreme closeup!

I have a lot of tomatoes. There are also a few cukes and jalapenos in the back left bowl. The eggplants are shiitake this year, and my other peppers, despite being pretty big, haven't produce a damn thing yet (but I see flowers). The cherry tomatoes are doing really well though and are so good! The yellow tomatoes have just started coming in and that's really exciting. I cleared out a drawer in the fridge so I can hoarde for a week or so and then make some mother forking sauuuuuce.

Veggie Squee! Everyone's haul looks great. My tomatoes still aren't ripe, but I continue to harvest tons of chard and kale. Because of what I suspected was blight, I ended up having to harvest my potatoes before they turned to mush-(one plant survived the move) and got about 6 cups worth of yukon golds which are now starring in the spicy poblano potato casserole from VV. I'm getting ready to plant my fall crops very soon-I'm sticking with more kale, arugula, and lettuces.

Beautiful tomatoes and eggies, everyone! And canteloupe, so jealous! Would that I had more than a single, male-flowering foot-long Minnesota Midget vine in my garden right now. Meanwhile, I thought the PPK would enjoy this tomato I harvested yesterday:

Such beautiful veggies, even the naughty tomato! I got two more cukes today, but can't download the pics from my computer, so here is one of my harvest last weekend.

Oh my. I'm trying to grow multi-colored carrots right now but it takes sooo loooong! Ugh! I should have staggered them like you said. Actually I still can do that, I didn't use all the seed.
Also, if you ever see the possibility of buying *just* purple or *just* white or *just* yellow carrots... please tell me! *just* please tell me! Or I'll keep typing asterisks. *! No seriously, why if you want these colors is it always mixes? (that also contain orange!) Flavor-wise, yellow and white are my favorite, followed by purple, and then orange.

Yay, Steph! Thanks for the info. This was my first year growing carrots and the circus-circus blend was a free pkg. from our vendor. I like all kinds of carrots, so I'll likely stick with that kind.

Everybody's harvests look great! I love the naughty tomato haha. Here's an epic post with pretty much everything I harvested in July. Albino hungarian peppers: Little Dickens & bananarama peppers: Eensy Weensy Jalapenos (supposedly Grandpa's Favorite): Very spiny Cool breeze cucumbers. Unfortunately this is all I got before the gopher attacked. :-( Basil: Aunt Molly's Ground Cherries: Napoli Carrots & Golden Turnips: And finally, (phew!) Purple Top Turnips: I havested a few more handfuls of ground cherries, jalapenos and little dickens, but otherwise all you see is all I got. I'm glad I got something but it is a little disappointing.

stephanie wrote: Mars, you can definitely grow single-color non-orange carrots! I actually didn't know you could buy them as a mix at all; I thought they were always separated. Yeah, I thought separated would make more sense but here in Portland all the nurseries are choosing to just buy the mixed packets I guess. Maybe figure that separated they might not sell as well I suppose.
