My partner and I will be traveling to Halifax, Nova Scotia at the end of August. We have never been there before and would love some recommendations for veg-friendly places to eat/get groceries. I saw a few listings on Happy Cow but figured personal feedback was our best bet. If you have thoughts on fun activities, that would be great too! Thanks so much!

Vegan Eats:
-HeartWood (vegan)
-Satisfaction Feast (vegan options)
-Wooden Monkey (vegan options)
- Almost all sushi places, Be-Well Sushi, Minatos are both good bets
- Burrito Jax
- Super Store and Sobey's both have vegan groceries as do vegan eats
-Planet Organic is the a health food shop with some good eats

Oh Halifax how I love and miss you (well NS)..
Satisfaction Feast is too yummy to be missed. And healthier options than many places.
You can also find a lot of Lebanese spots that are mostly advertising donairs, but have falafels.

check out the seaport farmers market too! Saturdays are the best days and have the most popular venues.

Also World Tea House does soy tea lattes and coffee.
Just us! has vegan soups/samosa etc same with paper chase cafe.
Rani's curry shop off queen st has vegan options galore
as do most middle eastern/turkish places

Thank you! I am looking forward to the farmers markets (and vegan samosas sound pretty yummy too!).

Lunenberg! And tourist-to-the-hilt though it may be, I enjoyed the brewery tour at Alexander Keith's, if only to hear the tour guides talk like pirates. And the free beer.

Thank you for the Janes recommendation, had the french toast on Tuesday morning. My girlfriend had the Japanese tofu dish and that was pretty impressive too. Basic but executed well.

Has anyone been to Cabot Shores near Englishtown in Cape Breton?

To think that you can have seitan in Cape Breton is incredible. I didn't have enough time to go there this time but has anyone been?

I've never heard of that! I usually picnic my way around Cape Breton since I've never found anywhere vegan-friendly. Good find!

I am looking for vegan worcestershire sauce and vegan graham crackers (not crumbs, which you can buy at Bulk Barn). Has anyone found these? I am in the HRM.

I found the vegan Worcestershire sauce at Planet Organic a while back! I've never seen vegan graham crackers, though.

I am sure I found vegetarian worcestershire in the grocery store but it has been a while. I'll get some at Planet Organic, thanks alexandra.

So Delicious coconut yogurt was (is?) on sale there for $3.50. I really like it.

Dudes. This is way premature, but I may be contemplating a move back to Halifax from the Tdot. Which is crazy, because when I left (age 19, 12 years ago) I could not wait to be out of the place. Now I'm seriously weighing a lot of options in my life, and considering a big change in lifestyle...i want to be calmer. More relaxed. Productive. Also, after ten years of trying to act professionally, i'd rather be shot than keep on auditioning, it's killing me.
Anyyyway, that bit of personal baggage dumping aside, I'm thinking I could possibly maybe move back home. Anyone have any huge pros or cons..?

Pros: B_A_D, the ocean, more affordable housing.
Cons: My family, seagull poop, people who think lettuce and tomato on white bread constitutes a veggie sammich i should pay them for instead of throwing at them.

This list could get really entertaining. I am also adding your awesome dog to the pros!

Woo! Dog pros.

There are D-E-F-I-N-I-T-E-L-Y some less than awesome examples but there are a few amazing vegan options, like the wooden monkey's vegan donair, heartwood cafe, Sweet Hereafter's daily vegan cheese cake, tereks cafe, cafe istanbuls falafel, turkish delights mezza spreads, a billion sushi options like: Minatos Vegan Dragon roll (request no egg tempura!), Be Well sushi cafe has numerous options marked vegan, Formosa's tea house does vegan spare ribs etc.

So there are some jems, many places I haven't even been. Crowbar foods is making vegan creme eggs in the market and burrito jaxs makes a mean vegan burrito.
