Petfinder breaks my heart because many rescues in Maryland/Virginia post dogs in West Virginia high kill shelters. A few years before we were in a position to get a dog, I was perusing pet finder, found a beagle named Nellie in a high kill shelter. I emailed the rescue and told them about a local shelter I knew had room, they contacted the shelter which said they would take Nellie and they were working to get Nellie the beagle moved but the high kill shelter had a deadline to meet and poor little Nellie didn't make it.

I totally want Marti. His ears look super-scrunchable. We will be adding to our pack in the next couple of years, so I try not to torture myself with listings right now. So while I can't look at Petfinder very often nowadays because it reduces me to a pile of weeping, shaking rubble, I did meet the love of my life there: Liam, who is now Dulli. His gotcha day anniversary was exactly one year and one month ago, and his tiny, perfect chin is resting on the top of my left hand right now, as it always is whenever I type on my laptop at home. Two of my longtime Petfinder loves are still up for adoption: Lumpy and Kara Lumpy is old, blind, in ill health, and bad with kids (fine by me; no kids allowed in our house). Kara is deaf and has seizures. I NEED THEM. I would also give anything to adopt a pig, but that can't happen until I move back to the country (hopefully in 10-12 years). After that, I'd love a gal like Eenie! Look at that little kiss spot on her forehead. I can't take it.

Our house is quite full with the three dogs and one cat (plus two human kids!) we already have but I can not stay away from Petfinder. It's dangerous.
