Well, have you? I'm starting mine. I just hope Mr. J remembers to water while I'm gone. More kale, chard, arugula, and lettuces. Maybe onions.

I started some spinach and ordered my planting garlic (Idaho Silver and Martin's Heirloom) a couple of weeks ago, but my summer garden is still sprawling alllllll over the place, so I don't know where I'm going to put anything!

So far we have planted rutabagas, turnips, and I think that might be all the room we have so far...although our ridiculously productive cucumber plants appear to be dying off, so that should clear up some room.

Turnips, beets, carrots, chard, lettuce, spinach, and kale if I can find some to plant.

The rabbits in my garden have been hungry, so a lot of what I've planted has fed them. They ate most of the carrot seedlings, but I'll have beets, parsnips, sunchokes, kale, collards, cabbage, Bau Sin. And I've started, but may lose all the seedlings to rabbits, turnips and rutabagas, as well as arugula, lettuce and scallions for fall. Plus I'll get garlic planted in October.

I'm so new to gardening, I didn't even know you could HAVE a fall garden until I read this! Must do research.

we are going to be moving in the next few months, but this week i put in spinach and lettuce and radishes- hoping i get to taste some of it or at least that someone moves in who will appreciate it.
i really wanted to plant kale, but haven't ordered any because of the move, the good news is that where we will be moving- northern california- still gets a frost, but just barely and usually in november so i think i might be able to plant some the day we arrive and be able to grow kale and hopefully have it all winter. My husband thinks i'm super kray-kray for planning to plant before i unpack.

Is it too late to start pumpkins from seed in zone 7?

It is still over 100 here, so the garden is struggling. Fred bought tomato plants today, I think he will put them in this week. I think we missed the winter squash planting window? Does anyone know if it is too late in AZ to put them in?

No and thankfully no....as I've just found out I have to move in a month or so. So sad to leave a garden you've worked hard at for a few years. : (

Great link! I've had spring and summer gardens for the past few years, but I'm really excited for fall planting this (my first!) year.

thanks for the linkie, jewy. i just used to find out that we will be zone 8-9, so i might be able to get a few things in the ground if the government would just finish the paperwork so we can go ahead and get a rental. i'm assuming we will get a yard, and my son is begging for more 'bunny carrots" (he likes to eat the ones that have the greens attached) and the chart gives me hope that with a cover, i might be able to get them in the ground and harvested before the frost.

i'm hoping it's not too late to start chamomile. i really want to get rid of the grass in the front of the house, and the little medians between the sidewalk and street will be our test plots. (i'm just so lazy. i guess i'll start them tomorrow. :-p at least to see if the seeds are still viable.)

No! It didn't occur to me! My summer garden was a flop because I didn't/couldn't go out in the heat and the bugs, but the husband is home now and swears he can't wait until next summer so he can grow a garden - maybe I could get him to start one! I know I have lacinato kale seeds - let me find the rest and list them!
eta: apparently I'm a 7B.

Okay, seeds! I have:
Salad Blend Cucumber Beets Purple Podded Pole Bean Bright Lights Swiss Chard Carrots Blue Curled Kale Red Romaine Flame Lettuce Forellenschluss (the spotted romaine) Lacinato Kale Red Russian Kale
So that's all good, right? Can I pin my garden hopes on my husband? :D

If I started winter squash now, does it have a chance of growing? I also have carrots, lettuce, chard, and summer squash - all seeds. Is it too late for me over here in SW Ontario?

I'm probably wrong, but I'm guessing too late to start squash from seed up there in The Great White North. Try and get established plants and trellis them so they are displayed vertically.
I'm also chanting, "Go Hydro!" in mah head. I'm going to have a small set up this winter so I don't have to buy greens, and I'm going to keep one tomato plant alive during the winter too.

Appypants,
I have not been to EPCOT in years, like since I was a wee teenager. They had the hydro set up way back then. A number of my colleagues have been there and have taken many a photo of the boss set up, one that I will covet until I die. I would love it if they bought their nutrients, lights, et al. from us.
