Talk to me about Albany, NY (asap please)

I know nothing about it.

When looking for a place to live, which areas are best? Which should be avoided?

Do you know of a good place for rent which could hopefully be moved into next weekend (the night of the 16th or on the 17th)

Where are good places to eat?

Tell me anything and everything about this place.

New World Bistro Bar isn't vegan, but has a tasty vegan menu. And there is a vegan bakery (Xs to Os) in nearby Troy.

They have a huuuuge co op! I've never been, but heard great things. Greater than the co op in Ithaca, which is pretty great.

my soon-to-be sister-in-law owns X's to O's Vegan Bakery. i literally have dreams about her cinnamon buns.

I'm excited about the coop! We're going tomorrow, I imagine, since we need food (staying in a hotel until we can find an apartment, so we can only microwave things though). Apparently there is a second coop opening (same folks) and we're looking at an apartment across from that location. Is Watervleit a good street?

the bakery is right outside albany. not very far – unless you don't drive. but even if that is the case, she wholesales to several places IN albany.

They're actually moving the entire coop to the Watervliet Ave Ext. location once they raise enough loans to build the building. W'vliet Ave Ext is very commercial -- a hotel, some business buildings, that sort of thing.

The Peanut Principle in Cohoes has vegan ice cream now! sundaes! banana splits! cones! shakes! they even have some treats from X's to O's, so you could get a vegan brownie sundae! they are also testing waffle cones lined in vegan rice crispy treats!!
