What television shows did you grow up watching?

oh, all of these! Clarissa and Blossom were my particular favorites. I also watched a lot of Sister Sister, which I don't think has been mentioned yet.

And I started to think of the 'sports' ones like American Gladiators and GLOW (women wrestling)

I was lucky enough to have parents who were really into those shows so we would watch young ones and monty python and red dwarf all the time. It was the best!

Also all the Liquid Television shows on MTV back in the day. Also, also, Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman, Highlander, Falcon Crest, Dallas, Renegade, Picket Fences, and other awesome early 90s non-children's shows.

yes, how could I forget about Love Boat (as the saying went in H'wood at the time: "Love Boat, then death"), The Partridge Family and one of my faves..>Three's Company. Man, I loved Three's Company.

70s Match Game, The Gong Show, Hollywood Squares, The Newlywed Game, The Dating Game. I remember Andy Kaufman's appearance on the Dating Game. He was being Latka before Latka was Latka. The girl who was questioning was all "ick" and he dint get picked.

So now that we have established the fact that we watched a fork load of TV when we were younger. Do you think that's a good or bad thing?

My childhood was not great and I wasn't being taught valuable things at home. My parents were crappy role models. So I think I actually learned a lot of great things from TV. Especially Cosby and The Wonder Years! Those two shows did great things for me. At the same time I'm sure I should not have been watching 90210 and Melrose Place at age 8!

I feel really weird about the fact that I watched probably 80% of the shows mentioned in this thread. Couldn't I have figured out something better to do with my time? God. But still - I still feel like I went outside and played a bunch and did normal kid things and I loved to read so that wasn't lost. I'm pretty happy about the fact that I don't have an accent because of TV raising me, so that's a plus.

I feel liked I played outside alot too, but I sure watched alot of tv! I remember when we got HBO when I was in junior high. That was an exciting time! Cartoons were only on saturday mornings, and I remember watching lots of reruns after school.

Yeah, I played a lot outside and did imaginative things and read a lot, in addition to the TV. I have fond memories of TV watching, I think I learned some things from it, but I had two older sisters and an older brother who were more role models for me, but I'm sure I learned some things from TV. Especially shows like Little House on the Prairie, I would say.

Sporting events on TV are always awesome and exciting and how else would I get to see them. I never would have been able to afford tickets. Leaf games, the Montreal Olympics in 1976. If I hadn't had a TV, I never would have seen Nadia Comenichi and Bruce Jenner, who were a huge deal back then. I have no problem with TV, but as with most things, it's all about balance and moderation as to whether something turns out to be positive or negative.

MMC and Roundhouse! I watched a lot of TV, but those were my absolute favorites. I would use a microphone to record the songs from MMC onto a cassette tape and then listen to them on my walkman all the time. Nickelodeon had a show that encouraged viewers to write in with comments and ideas (U2U?) and I wrote a letter asking them to make a show like MMC, jackets and everything, and put me on it. Ha!

That is awesome! I used to tape all the episodes on VHS so I just had tons of videos that I'd watch constantly. When I got "too old" for it I threw the tapes out, and action I regret to this day.
