11th is great! Do we want to plan for a potluck picnic in Rittenhouse?

CQ and I have been discussing locations and we'd like to put out there the ideas of Clark Park or maybe Franklin Sq. For Clark, could anyone give me a ride (from 30th st station or other mutually convenient place)? It's a bisque to get to via accessible public transit.

I don't actually know where any of these places are! So, um, as long as I can get to them by subway, I'm down for wherever.

Franklin Square is between Chinatown and the Constitution Center area (so, a bit east of you), and Clark Park is in West Philly. CQ was hoping for an easier place to park at than Rittenhouse...hence the discussion.

OH you mean Carousel Park!!!! That's what I call it. Cute. Is Washington Square easier to park near than Rittenhouse? Someone suggested that before I think. I really hope my whole weekend isn't destroyed by work.

West Philly is the easiest for me because I know that neighborhood and I know I can park there easily. It's turned out to be a huge pain in the asparagus for me to get downtown, at all, because I don't live anywhere near public transportation out here, and if I drive my car into the city (which scares the shiitake out of me to begin with) I then have to pay an assmillion dollars to park it and I can't afford that. And with my bum ankle I can't walk very far, so I have to be able to park pretty close to wherever we go.
I really hope I get this job I'm applying for, so I can go back to the place I was living before (two minute from the train!) and also have some money so I can afford to take the train!

Yeah, I think so. I may have to evacuate my apartment...the Schuylkill is apparently forecasted to crest at my doorstep this evening, or some shiitake. :-/

Thoughts people! Weather forecast is thundra until Monday. Even if it's not rainy, ground will be soggy as butt. We need a rain date. Following weekend? Is there a non grassy location?

The flooding was not as bad as they predicted. I should be fine to meet up on Saturday, though it will probably still be raining so we should go with a rainproof plan. Maybe an indoor restaurant? Maybe one that's not very expensive?
If we want to try again for next weekend, and if enough people have cars and can give rides, you're all totally welcome to come here. My apartment in West Norriton is totally 100% grass-free, and there is definitely a bathroom.

CQ you mean Sunday right? We had planned on this Sunday, the 11th. Does that not work? I'm all for rainproof plan and/or a rain date. How many people do we have for Sunday anyway?

I'm definitely up for an indoor plan. If we stick to Sunday, New Harmony's buffet is popular (I think it's only at dinnertime now though), or dim sum.
Or we could potluck indoors at CQ's or my place.

Ooooh I've never had dim sum! (ever!) Nor have I done the NH buffet. I am all for that - especially if we don't total more than 4-5 people, because then a potluck seems inadequate.

Oh! I...forgot how to count and I thought the 11th was Saturday. Saturday would be better for me if we're doing something in the city since I'm already coming in but I might still be able to do Sunday.
I'd still really prefer if we could do it in West Philly because I know that area, I know I can park my car, and that's where I'm already going. Sorry to be a pain in the asparagus, I just got so lost the last time I tried to find my way around Philly and ended up having to get directions from some drunk guy and walk two miles on my busted ankle to get back to my car...and I'm super low on cash, I can't really afford to spend it on public transit or parking right now. Sorry, big cities kinda freak me out especially when I can't get around on foot!

Ooh tomorrow is rough...I could do dinner? If you'd rather do tomorrow daytime and that works for everyone else though, feel free to do that

Nah, don't change everything around just because I can't count.
Are there enough people with cars if we want to do a potluck at my place next Sunday 9/18? That would be AWESOME. It doesn't matter how many people come, I can guarantee the potluck will be worth it if you come to my place because I will feed anyone who comes :D

Ooh fun! But I don't know anyone with a car. I think I'm going to make a separate thread for September meet ups in case people aren't checking this one or are forgetting. Cool?
