Starting September 18th join in for twelve weeks of vegan cooking. Each week we will all cook from a few specific different cookbooks, and share what we made on a thread for that book, (I'll start threads the day before each week begins.) You may cook as much or as little as you like from each book, and feel free to skip weeks completely if you don't have the book. You can always check your local library or look online for recipes from the books you don't have too! The books we'll be cooking from are; 9/18 - 9/24 - Isa & Terry - Week One 9/25 - 10/1 - American Vegan Kitchen 10/2 - 10/8 - Colleen Patrick Godreau Week - The Vegan Table / Color Me Vegan 10/9 - 10/15- Vegan Soul Kitchen 10/16 - 10/22 - 500 Vegan Recipes 10/23 - 10/29 - Best Veggie Burgers on the Planet 10/30 - 11/5 - Isa & Terry - Week Two 11/6 - 11/12 - Vegan Diner 11/13 - 11/19 - Dynise Balcavage Week - Urban Vegan / Celebrate Vegan 11/20 - 11/26 - Dessert Week - Any vegan dessert or baking book you own. 11/27 - 12/3 - see thread viewtopic.php?f=18&t=1417712/4 - 12/10 - see thread viewtopic.php?f=18&t=14177

Placed on reserve at the library The Vegan Table, Vegan Soul Kitchen, and 500 Vegan recipes. They didn't have American Vegan Kitchen, so I'll be doing an extra week of one of the other books. I'll get the others reserved when the time is nearer.
Excited!

I know it's probably too late, but how about just a Joni and Celine week? They currently have four books between them (five if you count Cozy Inside).

This should be fun. I wanted to participate last time, but life got in the way and I was more interested in just eating than trying to figure out what to cook from which book. Plus I'm going to Border's this afternoon(the original which is closing on Mon :(), and am hoping to get some good deals on cookbooks.

I'll play! I have everything except Vegan Diner. My cookbook no-buy will expire around then, so that's perfect.

I don't have a lot of these, but I still want to play! I'll use the internet and maybe sub in other books I do have just so they get used, which is the point of this after all... right?
Thanks for putting this together.

It means any Isa and/or Terry books, including Veganmicon, Vegan Brunch, Vegan with a Vengeance, Appetite for Reduction, and Viva Vegan. You could also include Vegan Cookies and Vegan Cupcakes if you wanted too.

I have absolutly no problem making a whole week for them, and the week for 500 Vegan Recipes could be for all their books, which would include Hearty Meals, and then the last two weeks could just go for Italian Kitchen and the Dreena books. I really want to include Hearty Meals in the challenge anyway, for an excuse to buy it, I just didn't realize it was the same authors of 500 Recipes.

It is! They also did Vegan Substitutions, and Joni did the Best Veggie Burgers book.

I'm going to have to check the library, I have almost none of these outside of the Isa & Terry weeks. Going to flat out buy Vegan Diner (because I wants it, precioussss) outright though. You guys made me do it!

Now I have excuse to buy Vegan Diner! I went a couple of weeks ago and found a few vegan cookbooks, but I went yesterday and there were none, and very few cookbooks at all (this was actually two different Borders, though).

I forgot I had an appointment this afternoon, so I'll be going in the morning since I'm pretty sure the UofM game is at night, but when I was in there a few weeks ago, there were tons of cookbooks. Actually both of the Border's near me had tons of cookbooks, but one store only had them at 30% off, so I was waiting for better deals.

Excellent. This is perfect timing (and I have all but 2 of these). I promised myself that I would start using all of my cookbooks again. Thanks for setting this up.

If you mean university of Miami, and the city of miami, then yeah, there are no veg cookbooks left.

Could the weekly thread be placed in the "cookbook" section of the forum?

I usually end up not being able to keep up with these, but since there's no minimum number of recipes, I'll try again :) Unfortunately, my library system doesn't have any of the books I don't. But I'm hoping google/amazon previews will be helpful.

I want to play! I only have about half of the cookbooks, but the others are on my want list. I'll pick one or two up and try to find available recipes from the others.

blizzful wrote: Could the weekly thread be placed in the "cookbook" section of the forum? That would be pretty helpful for searching later. Although for the isa/terry week and other multi-book weeks it might get a bit confusing. Unless we wanted to do a CookBook Challenge: [book title] thread for each separate book, if you left the dates off those threads could be bumped during the next challenge as Isa/Terry books and likely a few others seem to be reappear in most of the challenges.

So.... what we do is we just cook from that Cookbook for the week, post the results to our fantastic blogs, and then share the delight/commiseration/jealousy/amazement by reading other people's blogs? Sorry, I'm new at blogging!
