My evil little town has made the national news 3 times in the last 3 weeks. All for terrible things... The first one was a shooting at Ihop, the second one was the tragedy at the Reno Air Races (plane crashed into the box seats, in case you arent familiar), and the latest one happened last night during Street Vibrations, our quaterly Motorcycle Rally. Members of the Hells Angels and the Vagos got into an arguement which turned into a fist fight which in typical biker fashion turned into a gun fight, in the middle of a crowded casino. One Hells Angel was killed, two Vagos were wounded, luckily no civilians were hurt. The scene was so chaotic that The police had to call for help from 3 other police departments and the Highway patrol. Then this morning the Hells Angels retaliated by shooting a Vago in the middle of downtown. Police are calling in DEA, ATF, and FBI for help now.... We get these full blown gang wars every once in a while. The last one was about 7 years ago, between the Hells Angels and the Mongols, it lasted 3 weeks and had a lot of casualties.
Perhaps I should start looking for a new town? I hear Portland is nice, Eugene looks pretty too.....

Ugh. I live in Reno, too, and was just remarking to friends this morning that it's seemed like we've gotten more than our fair share of these freak, fatal happenings. But I still love it here. I just hate that these incidences might be taken by some to be what Reno is about, when really we have so many other wonderful things like Holland Project, Pneumatic Diner, our rapidly expanding co-op, lots of sun, bike lanes and road diets being put in everywhere, cute neighborhoods, so close to Tahoe...
