Hey there! Anyone know any good shops for fabric in Philadelphia? I'm especially on the hunt for faux leather/suede +/- fur for a Halloween costume, so I'm hoping maybe one of you have looked for this stuff before. I'm vaguely aware of Fabric Row, but don't really know if any one shop is better than another. Cheaper is better since it's only going to have to hold up for one night. Thanks for any advice.

definitely fabric row! there are a handful of shops on 4th st, south of bainbridge. i've never been to any of them, so i don't know about prices.

i also recommend thrift stores if you have the time to search and be crafty. last halloween, i obtained a good amount of velvet to make a wizard's robe by piecing together several one-dollar old lady robes.

You could try upstairs at Jomar. They're cheap and I used to find some faux leathers and furs there. They're on one of those weird warehousey backstreets behind Target.

I can attest that a good friend of mine goes here on a regular basis for all of her textile needs and swears that they are super cheap.
