What are you feasting on this year?

Yay! I'm really excited this year, mostly because it falls during MoFo. I've decided to cook exclusively our of World Vegan Feast, since Bryanna's recipes are always great for the holidays. This is what I'm thinking so far:

1. Brussels Sprouts Crema (a creamy Brussels sprouts soup--diverging from my fave roasted sprouts but I'm sure it'll be great!)
2. Seitan Wellington with my marmite gravy
3. Hasselback Potatoes
4. Maybe the Sicilian mashed potatoes with orange
5. Pecan Pie OR Scottish Sherry Trifle

We are goin to my Mom and Dad's the weekend of Thanksgiving, and they are usually very good with making sure there is a lot of nice food I can eat. Not all traditional, I'm okay with that, though...usually there will be boiled corn, my Dad's garden mashed potatoes, and other garden veggies, cold veggie platter, pasta salad, bread, stuffing, etc. And, it tastes better, because, let's face it, Mom's food always tastes good! :) However, actual Thanksgiving day, I have to work all day, so I haven't yet decided what we will eat then at home. Slow cooker something, maybe, unless the husband wants to plan a proper meal. Happy Thanksgiving, guys!

Hmmm no idea yet, but thanks for the post as it's got me thinking about it. Not sure if it is just going to be me or if my SO will be home, so that will alter the meal quite a bit. Maybe a trip to Calgary for teapot's thanksgiving will be in order as she usually goes all out.

I think I might be too broke for Thanksgiving. Which is the saddest thing I've ever said. Especially since last year's was so amazing. Sigh. I will at least make a pumpkin pie, because you can't pass T-giving without the pie of pumpkin.

Oh my gosh, can you come to Victoria? I'm housesitting in Oak Bay and making dinner on the Monday. You and your fella are totally invited! Or come over sometime during the week for leftovers! There will be plenty.

Sounds like a prime opportune for me to crash a Thanksgiving dinner!

I kid--I've got a potluck in Fairfield with good company to go to, but I'll probably be the only one cooking vegan for it.

I sort of feel like doing a stuffed-things theme. Stuffed seitan roast, stuffed mushrooms, twice-baked potatoes, stuffed mini peppers, stuffed acorn squash ...

And then pumpkin pie. Yes. I wonder what I could stuff pie into, aside from my facehole.

Oh this is so kind. Sadly ferry fees are outside my budget...unless I get the job I just got called to book an interview for! I will let you know.

I'm lost. I dont' really like tofurky and seitan doesn't sit well with me, but I don't know what else I should make :(

What about a veggie pot pie or stuffed acorn squash? We usually do that instead of veggie meats.

Shy Mox...go completely untraditional! Do a Latin spread from Viva Vegan! Or...make pho! Pizza! Curries!

ShyMox, I love to do a maple-orange-dijon tofu for Thanksgiving and Xmas. It always goes down like gangbusters. Even omnis go back for seconds and thirds!

Oooh, a pot pie would be good. I'll look through my cookbook to see if there's something semi fancy I can do that's untraditional ^_^ I'm just worried because my sister is picky picky picky.

Jealous of Canadian Thanksgiving! I'm a Canadian ex-pat living in the U.S. I wanted to have a little mini Canadian Thanksgiving but I'm still on crutches so I think I will skip it. Somebody eat an extra slice of pie for me!

I'm making the Rustic White Beans and Mushrooms from VCON, with the bread crumb topping. If you have truffle oil, drizzling some of that in fancies it up. I'll have the usual sides to go with it -- mashed potatoes, roasted brussell sprouts, maybe something with parsnips.

I found a very simple recipe for 'chicken' loaf in one of my older cookbooks. If I manage to procure a package of Yves Ground 'Chicken' before Thanksgiving rolls around, I will give it a try. My daughter is insisting on cheezecake because she doesn't like pumpkin pie. I have attempted repeatedly to talk her into pumpkin cheezecake, but no dice. Darn it!

Did someone say Marmite gravy? Please elaborate!

I made it last year, yum. Unless my pie book comes first, then something out of that.

I am letting the non-vegetarians cook what they want (unspoken) and I will gladly cede the kitchen for the day. Desserts and rolls will be my job, made the day before.

If I have to energy, I plan on doing a small seitan roast with onion gravy, stuffing, roasted root veggies & maybe pumpkin pie since I have some mimicreme whipped topping that I am dying to use!

Okay, you guys. I'm going to post my marmite gravy on Tuesday for MoFo! I'm not trying to withhold this info or be a diva or anything, but I need to save my pennies for that month of food. I'll link to it here if you like. I'm no aspiring cookbook author but my marmite gravy is good.

Thanksgiving is this Sunday - right! Oh, definitely want to make pumkin pie. Or filled pumkin out of the oven? So many options...

ETA: I make Marmite Gravy all the time in winter. I love it! Wonder if its anything like yours, though!

Me and P are going to Teapot's. I'm going to make a slow roasted seitan roast and maybe either a dessert or some biscuits or rolls depending on what she is already making. You should totally come down!


Shymox, Bryanna Clark Grogan's tofu pot pie is delicious! I couldn't find the recipe online but I have a copy on my computer at home if you'd like it.
