The short story: I feel like I've hit a creative wall. I'm a writer and actor (and sometimes dancer) and I've been doing mostly comedy stuff lately, but really I just like creating or participating in something exciting. But since my sketch comedy group broke up recently I'm feeling lost.
A couple friends have recommended I read Julia Cameron's
The Artist's Way, which guides you through a rigorous twelve-week program of finding your creative self and gaining confidence through writing and other exercises. All this sounds great, but also, well... intense. Plus, when I read more about it
on Amazon, there seemed to be some kind of God and Christianity thing going on. No offense meant to religious folks, it's just that I'm not religious at all and I don't like mixing spirituality into my creative inspiration. I just want to have a direction again.
Have any of you PPKers read it? Is it worth it? Is it too God-y? Or maybe you can recommend me something else to get my artistic mojo back?? Lay it on me.
