Dammit. I like this show. From the previews, I really thought she would annoy the hell outta me. But that character is so freaking weird that I kinda love it! I'll definitely watch again.

Awww, I read "DW Jr" as Doctor Who Junior. That would be hawt. Anyway, I liked the show. I am going to jump on the Coach bandwagon, though. He was aweeeesome. But I also have a lady-boner for Zooey, so I'll probably keep watching.

Not sold yet, but will definitely watch a few more episodes before making a decision. My husband was actually the one laughing louder than me, which was quite surprising.

like someone said upthread, some of her delivery was totally hilarious. i'm definitely going to watch at least a couple more episodes and give it a shot. and +4 on the "yay, leo from veronica mars!" action.

I liked the first coach much better.

Yep, Happy Endings is much better than New Girl + Damon - his character is great.
The second episode was even more annoying, I found it all so predictable (the ball hitting the tv) plus when she was carrying out the tv and no one got out of the car to help until she dropped it but I'm going to give it a few more episodes because the guys all wearing her hats was amusing.

I think I love it because I feel like I have a lot of her quirks...including the singing.

I loved it, and I think it was because of the scene where she's in the restaurant and the guys start singing to her. I couldn't stop laughing at that. This show is like True Blood in that it had a strong ending that left a good impression (True Blood normally ends with Eric now).

I do, however, like that they are sticking to the canon. So Coach isn't just magically some other dude. I guess they had to pick which was less offensive or something. But, I agree, dude is nowhere near as funny as Damon Wayans Jr.

These were my thoughts on the pilot: The gift bow drop was a great visual gag. The theme song is tolerable if read as "SNL"-esque parody. The flashbacks are reminiscent of "Perfect Couples," especially since Mary Elizabeth Ellis was in one of them. Did she call it "the Craigslist"? The d-bag jar could've been funny. Good work jumping into the show's premise right away. "Dinner, with food." That was good. The constant singing is actually funny because I know people who do that, and not in an annoying way, in a funny self-aware way. But I can't believe this is the protagonist. "Dexter" has a more relatable titular character as entryway into a show's universe than Jess. Maybe it's because I am not a Zooey kinda person, and there are Zooey kinda persons who find her totally relatable. Also, I may just be holding a grudge because she threw veganism under the bus. The ending is cheesy. The show was fine, but I probably won't make time for it in my viewing schedule.

I was a little disappointed in the pilot - didn't quite live up to the hype. That said, I love ZD enough to continue watching it for the next few episodes, or until Bones comes back in a few months and I can get my Deschanel-fix in an alternative way.

OK, I just started watching a few seconds ago, but I'm really confused about the new character! They should have just made this the first episode if they weren't going to keep a main character from the pilot!
Also, I didn't realize that Coach was Damon Wayans Jr.

I've only seen the pilot so far but I liked it! I was just watching because I was bored and didn't really have anything else to watch, I wasn't expecting to like it that much. I guess I'm a ZD fan and didn't know it.

I like it. I do tend to be a ZD fan and this character is much better than some of the stereotypical indy film girl characters she has played in the past. I am with Mo on the which is more offensive way of handling the departure of DWJr. I suspect I would have found it worse though if they just changed the actor but not the character but really..these guys can only have an athletic african american as their third male friend? Ok that makes sense....

I actually laughed out loud at what Jess said when she was introduced to Caroline at the wedding. mixmaster_mo wrote: starrynight87 wrote: I liked the first coach much better. The new guy isn't Coach. Damon is listed in 2 episodes so maybe we'll get to see him again.

What did she say when they were at their house? She put on the teeth and said something about "brother-cousin." It gave me quite the giggle.

the stuff during the introduction was hilarious. messing up her name on purpose 4 times and then just laughing "i give up," and "he's so soft, like a towel."

I have a major Zooey boner but I don't really like this show. It's like ok, we already know she's hot, so why are they pretending that she's super awkward and needs a makeover from her model friend? The gender stereotyping is through the roof and not that funny ... and yet, with almost nothing I want to watch on Hulu lately, I keep watching this god awful show.

Rubella, that bugs me too, every episode is like She's All That, one minute she's annoying them and then she puts on a dress and it's like she's a different person and the boys suddenly find her hot...maybe that's the point, I don't know. Yes, Mo the teeth & her voice, so funny! I want to watch this episode again. bluedawg wrote: the stuff during the introduction was hilarious. messing up her name on purpose 4 times and then just laughing "i give up," and "he's so soft, like a towel." Hehe, I'm always touching my bf's face after he shaves and going on about how soft his face is, I plan on using the towel quote from now on.

just remembered the other part that cracked me up:
"and our BABY!" (with the hilarious double-handed gesture toward her stomach)
[awkward pause]
"and our OTHER BABY!"
i agree that there are some really dumb/frustrating parts about the show, but i'm hoping it grows into itself because she is cracking me up, and i love leo.

I think the wedding episode was the weakest to date, but still had some funny moments. I just went to a wedding last weekend and I'm really jealous that I didn't think to do a slow-mo chicken dance! That looked like so much fun! And how crazy is it that Natasha Lyonne was in it? Hope she's doing better in her personal life, she's a really funny actress.
All in all, I like how they're slowly building up the camaraderie between the four main characters, makes it more believable than all of them just immediately getting along and loving each other.
