I can teach cool facts about organic and inorganic chemistry, how to read chemical equations/structures, stuff like that. Or if you're interested in how a prescription drug works, I can help explain.
Also how to do science outreach with highschoolers.
And how to groom yourself academically to get into science grad school programs.

I can talk to people about what to expect in backpacking-especially long distance (I thru-hiked the Appalachian trail). Gear, AT specific stuff, planning, etc.

I can do homemade bath/body products. Easy stuff like scrubs, bath bombs/salts and masks ie stuff that doesn't need heating or special ingredients. Or more complicated stuff if anyone wants it like cold/hot process soap making, lotion making, lip balm, body butters.....

I can share skills in conducting program evaluation, fancy Excel spreadsheets, and conducting focus groups. Also if anyone is interested in forensic psychology or general social psychology in general, I have my PhD and can talk for hours and hours and hours about those topics.

Not true??

Ampner wrote: I am interested in studying chemistry but I was afraid they would make me carve up animals if I pursued a degree. Not true?? I never had to do any animal work, and I even double majored in biology! The only time I ever heard people having to do dissections or animal experiments was if they took anatomy or neurology courses, or if they did independent research in a lab that worked with animals. In fact, that's one reason why I switched from bio to chem. It's good to check the specific curriculum of the school though, just to double check that they won't make you take some general science classes that dissect pigs or something equally gross. If you end up pursuing organic chem or bio as a profession, you could end up working for big pharma, and they do test drugs on animals there. lillianp wrote: I can talk to people about what to expect in backpacking-especially long distance (I thru-hiked the Appalachian trail). Gear, AT specific stuff, planning, etc. I would be very interested in learning about this! I am planning a 60-mi backpacking trip in Yellowstone for my honeymoon and could use some advice. Esp about first aid training, gear, the pros/cons of getting a satellite phone, how to prepare physically, and I'm sure lots of stuff I'm not even thinking about. I've only done 3-day trips and no where where there are grizzlies or moose!

- how to navigate the school system if your child has a disability or allergy (at least in the US) - how to tap into free resources for people with dyslexia - what to look for if starting a therapy program for a child with autism; and the differences between various methodologies - orton-gillingham/wilson based orthography lessons for why words are spelled in certain ways
couroupita - where were you when I was floundering in orgo in college? No matter how long I studied those stupid mechanisms, and played with my 3D models, I could never do better than a C on any exam. First time in my life that I was ecstatic, instead of disappointed, to earn a C in a class.

Don't know how helpful any of these skills will be for anyone but I'll put 'em out there:
- I can identify bones. Found a random bone? I can help you figure out what species/body part it is. - Bird identification - I can translate stuff from Dutch to English or edit Dutchisms out of an English text.

I was thinking I could teach how to make a floral arrangement or bouquet, and how to source much of the materials from around your neighborhood. Also, how to pick/plan the color scheme.

I'm thinking of trying to get some photos for a bath bomb tutorial this weekend, if anyone's interested?
Basic scrubs are so easy I'm not sure they need a tutorial of their own, but maybe I could tag it on the end.
In the future I'd like to do them for lip balm, lotions, more complicated scrubs and soap, but they're going to be LONG, so might be better as blog posts or PDFs.

I am also good at/know how to do resume editing (get it down to 1 page!), if that would be helpful, but it might involve people submitting a few so that I could show the process I use. I would like this and I would even submit a resume! I have work experience that is kind of all over the place so I am always looking to make it more cohesive. And Cutting my own hair - Thisheregiraffe teach me!
