Is anyone going to the Sacramento Walk for Farm Animals this Saturday the 15th? It benefits Farm Sanctuary and if you register early it's only 15 bucks for adults or 10 just to "virtually" walk for those who can't/don't wanna go.
It sounds like a ton of fun and it's supposed to be sunny.

PS: I really dislike posting Sacramento stuff in the Bay Area forum. I have such jealousy of SF, but Sacramento is still its own unique and vibrant city. Maybe it's because I'm still bitter that at my college orientation (in SoCal) I was forced to sit at the San Francisco table because Sac didn't have one. Grumble grumble.

How did the Walk go? It was a gorgeous weekend in Northern California.

I'm super lame and didn't end up going. I was going to register for the tix beforehand so as to get the $15 price, but apparently early registration closed Friday night (even though they never said that grrrrrrr). Since I couldn't afford 2 $35 day-of-tickets, I sat it out.

Dang! That's too bad. Maybe next year, eh? Sacramento is getting to be quite the vegan hotspot. Chico didn't even host a walk this year, which is unusual. So maybe next year for Chico, too.

I wanted to go, but I was in LA. Maybe next year?

I also don't think Sacramento belongs in this forum. We are kind of close to the bay area, but we are not the bay area. As much as we may want to be.

Quagga, I totally agree that Sacramento will eventually become a vegan hotspot. We're getting there... with this month's Vegan Chef Challenge helping quite a bit! People tend to talk only about Sugar Plum, but there are so many delicious vegan options throughout the city. I struggle to keep up with them all.

Ashley, I'll definitely try to go to next year's walk too. And by then, maybe we'll stop getting associated with the bay area.

It was a nice event, my shop Never Felt Better had a table.

Amelie - You should have stopped by, I bet they would have accepted the pre order price.

Also Sacramento has really grown over the last 9 years (when I originally lived here). We have 5 vegan restaurants, 3 vegetarian restaurants, a vegan store and and a variety of places that offer veg*n options. I remember when Sunflower was the only vegetarian place (after Mum's shut their doors). Now if we could get a decent vegan breakfast option in town I would be a lot happier :)

Veganskater, not to belabor the point, but I asked on their Facebook page about the price thing and they basically said there was nothing they could do. What can you do.
No worries though, as I will likely attend/volunteer at the Farm Sanctuary Celebration for the Turkeys.

That's cool, the turkey event sounds like a good time, we may try and attend. We went to the Animal Place event a few weeks back and that was amazing, nothing like interacting with your fellow earthlings to remind oneself why we are vegan!!
