Vedge is getting closer, hoping to open end of September. They're dealing with the Historical Society as it is an older space, so that is why they are working with a lot of the original interior. There will be elevator access in the back (this was brought up in the earlier post). It feels so spacious inside. There is a separate bar with hi-top tables, 3 dining room areas, a main room with a vegetable bar that has walk-in tables (no reservations needed for those) and a separate room for cocktails and small bites. Thanks for the update. That's great to hear about the access! I'm wondering what "elevator in the back" will actually be like...and I really hope they put a sign out front explaining how to get to the accessible entrance (this is pretty key if a business doesn't look accessible, but has a hidden accessible entrance).

The elevator looks pretty big, Rich said it leads to either the back or the side of the building (Camac or St. James St?), it's right off of the kitchen and just a few steps from the main dining room with the vegetable bar. There aren't any crazy stairs inside, which is one thing that I won't miss! I'll have updated pics in a few weeks.

I have a friend who is supposed to be working for Vedge and they claim to have absolutely no clue when opening day will be. I hope it is sooner than later!

I was just remembering how they were saying 'end of September.' guess that is wishful thinking at this point

I heard a short interview on NPR with Rich Landau in which they were asking him what to do with okra. They said he was from Vedge restaurant and I was excited for a minute because I thought it meant they were open. Alas...

their Twitter says: "we can always do raw - just give us a call ( hey that rhymes - must put that on the business cards )"
RAW DOES NOT RHYME WITH CALL.

Yay something!
Hahah cracking up at "little leaves", "funky tofu stew" (appetizing!). Yay beignets! But I don't see the famous seitan?

well. i am very excited about the menu style. but, i yawn at the actual small plates. so much of the same stuff. at this point, my dream meal there is the gold beets and some sort of cocktail. i really thought i'd want to try a bunch of things and have to go back every week with a friend or okcupid weirdo until i tried all of the amazingness. maybe the menu is just a start or rough draft? maybe i'll just be richer than i thought i'd be this winter?

I'll admit that I was a little wary of the change in menu after the closing of Horizons, but the recipes and pictures do a lot to reassure me that this will still be pretty hearty stuff. Can't wait.

True! The preview party was last night, so they should open this week (only thing holding them up was the liquor license but they passed the inspection, so I think they are just waiting for the license to get there). Had a full meal there on Saturday for Friends & Family Night, was really impressive, we ordered like 7 or 8 dishes and then 2 desserts, and everything was similar yet elevated. It was like all of the older dishes got a 2011 update. Smaller plates, yes, but then you end up trying more things. Looking forward to the next meal!
