Hey everyone, I was curious if anyone knew of any taquerias that had vegan burritos with mock meat, rather than just the usual rice/lettuce/tomato/beans deal. Had a craving for something a little more hearty than what I usually get. Thanks in advance!

I heard there is like a burrito truck somewhere around San Jose that has veggie meats. I think I read a Yelp review on it not too long ago. I can't find the review or the name of the place now, but I'll keep looking.

ETA: The only other place I can think of is Aqui in San Jose. They put tofu in some stuff but not veggie meats. They're kind of pricey, too but I wanted to list at least one place in case you're wanting to go there today.

You could check with your local Whole Foods to see if they have vegan carne asada made with Gardein. They have that at the WF in the Upper Haight here in SF, and it's forking delicious!

The WF in Campbell has a burrito with tofu. I always think about ordering it but I never do.

I have had the Campbell WF burrito...in fact we got it about once a week when we lived around the corner from that WF. I also got it with the roasted veggies, which were awesome. Right before we moved they started skimping on the fillings but the quality depended a lot on who was behind the deli counter. It would be sweet if they started carrying Gardein!

This is second-hand info, but my parents recently went to Aqui and ordered something with tofu and reported that it was delicious. It's on my list of Restaurants to Visit When I Escape School-Induced Poverty.

I've been to aqui a half dozen times and they do have a nice tofu burrito with I want to say some sort of mango salsa-- and some other stuff. You can get a platter with guac salsa and hummus too- and decent margaritas
