Finally finished the hat I promised my coworker back in April! It only took two days once I actually set my sights on it and knitted. She wears it beanie style but I wore it like this:

I love that hat! I've had my eye on a few hat patterns on Ravelry that use buttons on the brim. Very Cute.

That hat is super cute! I spent all of yesterday knitting a cowl, but I can't upload any pictures right now due to technical difficulties (my camera phone is being a total croissant, and my proper camera is missing). My right thumb hurts. I might develop knitting calluses.

I'm making a lace-ish kindle cover for my mom, and a cabled scarf for a friend, and possibly some stripey scarves or mitts for friends' kids!

I'm still working on the stole I posted on here a while ago. I don't think I'll finish by Christmas! I'm going to make my mom some slippers and mittens instead and save the stole for her b-day in August!

I was really happy Vogue Knitting's fb page had a link to the VegNews knitting article. Then I read the comments under the fb link. Why oh why did I read the comments? I let myself engage and I'm just getting more and more upset by these ignorant and arrogant people who are posting that it's cruel *not* to shear the poor sheep (who we caused to be in pain in the first place by domestication!). Oh and we shouldn't judge farmers till we walk in their shoes. I guess I should just ignore any perceived cruelty or injustice unless I'm an active participant. Yeah, that makes a lot of sense.
Why do non-vegans feel the need to post on a link intended for vegans? Why do I think that by rationally and politely explaining the veg perspective to these people I would receive anything other than snark snark snark snark snark and condescension?! You would think that I'd have figured it out after 10 years, but I guess I'm as dopey as ever. I don't expect people to become vegan or to think that I'm necessarily "right" but I at least expect them be courteous and try to understand where I'm coming from before making fun of me. I'm constantly amazed by people who don't listen and reflect before opening their big.asparagus.mouths. Argh!
I need to remember to celebrate the awesome accomplishments of the movement (like even getting mentioned by Vogue!) and rise above the pinheads who try to tear it down. Thanks for listening, PPK :)

michael's brother and sister-in-law asked me to knit ruby's first halloween costume. she went as a blueberry: she got the hat (from me) as a shower present and they asked me to make something around the idea of her being a berry of some sort. i also made her some booties that you can kind of see in this picture. i don't think i have time to make anything substantial for people for christmas this year. normally, i start christmas gifts in august and this year, i just wasn't feeling it.

You guysss I miss knitting. I just don't have time. Maybe I need to make some super quick accessories to feel like I've accomplished something.

Kittee! That! Is! Amazing! I want to make one of those so bad, what size hook did you use? How much fabric/yarn did it take?

that blueberry baby is SO amazing. adorbz. cannot handle it. ;alskfjwefoisdafldfas
and, kittee!! that rug is beautious! did you use cut up sheets? i've been kind of aching to make a braided rug, but i think just crocheting one would be easier. especially since i want a really big one.

thanks friends! i used a really big fat hook, probably like a g or something. it was about as thick or a bit thicker than the joint of my middle finger. i used some sheets for this and some fabric from the thrift store. the longer the fabric, the less knots, which makes it faster to make. ripping the fabric into strips, knotting it and balling it probably took more time than actually crocheting it. it works up pretty fast, especially if you've got something interesting to listen to or watch. not sure how much fabric this took, but maybe a bit? i used a lot of sheets! and part of an old thin cotton blanket and a tablecloth!

OMG! I spent the whole day crocheting festivus gifts and I am so excited with how they turned out!!! I made guinea pigs for my brother and a Crono Trigger plushie for a good friend. I just learned to crochet about two weeks ago so I am REALLY excited with how well they turned out (and with how much faster crocheting is than knitting). Here is Crono chillin' with the guinea pigs:
