I was wondering if Portland has a local tofu or tempeh company that comes recommended? Thanks.

Ota & Dae Han for tofu
For tempeh, Turtle Island (Tofurky) isn't Portland-based, but it is less than an hour away.

I think also Bui Natural Tofu that Kittee blogged about recently, and there is a local tempeh place! Cascade Naturals.

Panda!
You can get Cascade tempeh at the Saturday Farmers Market - not every week, but on a semi-regular schedule.
Surata Tempeh is from Eugene, and that's the bulk tempeh you'll find at People's Coop, Alberta Coop and Proper Eats (I think).
Ota Tofu is at SE 8th or 9th and Stark near the mini mall, and is the freshest I've found.
You can also buy fresh tofu by the block at the Alberta Coop, People's Coop, probably Proper Eats, and as Celyn mentioned, Bui Tofu who make their own, Thanh Son on 82nd a block or two above E Burnside (I prefer this one, location wise it's easiest for me, and they have fun flavored tofu, too, like lemongrass and chili garlic) and out at JC Rice Noodle on SE Foster.
Tofu party!

Just starting my research, Ms Funks. Oddly, with local tofu.

Oh Em Geeeee, Surata is so good. I never even steam it first because it's so yummy. (I buy the multigrain one, don't know if that's why). Also the OTA medium is my go to for scrambles!

If Portland fails you (unlikely), we can always send a seal raft down to PDX carrying Salt Spring Island tofu--with Sim at the helm.

Ota's age is worth the price of admission. Their soymilk... eh. Maybe for cooking/baking.

I've made the Ota soy nectar mistake. I remember adding way more sugar than I would have deemed reasonable to make rice pudding with it. And sad, it goes foul way quicker than ascetic packaged milks.
