I have a sebaceous cyst in a super sensitive/uncomfortable area of my groin (it's right on the crook between the hip/thigh/pelvis). I can't get a grip on it to pop it thanks to the soft-ness of the area, it's not lancing and heating pads are having no effect.
Anything else I'm missing? I can barely walk because friction is my enemy right now. And sitting doesn't help either thanks to pressure of my leg on it. This is day 3. I discovered it Friday morning while on the elliptical which was not a pleasant way to discover something like this.

I had one on my back. It would never pop or lance. I was hoping it would just go away but it never did. I had a doctor cut it out. Now I have a cool scar. I told my wife I got stabbed when we were first dating. Do not YouTube home cyst removal videos. The end.

I'm a little gross in that I love the popping of cysts. That's like my gross thing. Drives my family crazy because I love to pop stuff. I can't get my own cysts to ever pop though. Boo.

In which case, go ahead and YouTube home cyst removal videos. There's one that looks like somebody squeezed a toothpaste tube full of mud. He jabbed the hell out of it with a needle first. You're welcome.

I had one that I had to have a doctor remove, it wasn't poppable. Unfortunately for me.

Everyone who clicks on the sebaceous cyst thread is going to be gross enough to want you to pop the fork out of it. And probably show it.

Lie down and leave a hot wet cloth on it for at least 10 minutes. (The hotter the better, but obviously don't burn yourself!) It's supposed to help soften the cyst so it's easier for your body to reabsorb the stuff, but it can also sorta open it up (oh ew) for you if it's near the surface.

solipsistnation wrote: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6qHhjNcGhDQ I watched the whole thing and now I can't get it out of my head. The only cysts i've had were basically glorified pimples so that was crazy epic to me! This also reminds me of when I favorited calx's spider bite video on youtube, forgetting that I have youtube and facebook linked. So when it showed up in my feed as 'Katie favorited the video 'opening up my infected spider bite' all of my non-ppk friends were like 'OMG WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU'.

I had my husband partially pop one, then went to my doc, she got most of it. She said she loved doing them. She actually didn't get it all out so a dermatologist dug the rest out.

I went to my DR who didn't have the right tools to do the job and she sent me to the ER.(this was 2 your ago around T-Day) They were very nice to me there, the ER doc said he removes a lot of these. He used some local anesthetic and sliced it open, dug in and removed it, then put packing in. (ew) I got a prescription for tylenol #3 and while I was waiting in line at the pharmacy it started to hurt a lot. It was hard to sleep that night since when I moved it was painful. the next day took some more of the drug and all of a sudden felt like I was going to faint(the last time I took codeine! it worked as long fine as I didn't have to be up and about). I had to return to the ER to get the packing out(ew) and then I had to make sure it didn't get infected. Some of the packing was still in the wound and it came out eventually. I was glad I finally got the thing out(I had a bump there for years).Thank gawd it hasn't come back.
