Nooo world can't end until I can put "esquire" after my name! And until I eat enough junior mints to make up for the past 10 juniormintless years.

I do hope to see the light of day before 2012 though. If food is involved I'm more likely to make it out, since then I can justify it to myself more. "Well, I have to eat anyway, so I may as well get pizza with Randi..." etc.

WAIT I forgot to follow up with you about that --- are Junior Mints really vegan now?? Or just certain kinds, like in certain countries or made in certain facilities like Domino sugar? Ahhh it's too good to be true; they were my FAVORITE. You guys thought I went nuts for peanut chews...

It's all of them! Assuming, at least, that the place you buy them from doesn't still have old stock on the shelves. Apparently, earlier this year they took the gelatin out so they could be Kosher, and the confectioner's glaze is corn-based. I have only found them at Rite Aid (not CVS, Wawa, or 7-11).

I can't find any source confirming that they are vegan or that any change has been made to the ingredients. Did you actually buy some that do not list gelatin as an ingredient?

Yes indeed I did. Bought and consumed copious amounts. I don't personally have evidence about the confectioner's glaze but another PPKer called and was told it's corn-based.

Also, http://www.thejewishweek.com/news/short ... oncessions and a lot of other sources confirming that they're now Kosher (via removal of gelatin).

After I saw the junior mint post from dynah last week, I went to CVS and found a vegan box. I've never had junior mints before..i was expecting them to be chewey, but they were soft and melt-in-your-mouthish. I dig it!

My idea is still that you should all come to my place and eat cookies.

definitely make it happen on a weeknight as even though that place is large, its gets pretty crowded ie less fun.

Does 7 work for everybody? My train's at 9:30, so that should give me time to hang out/stuff myself and still get there on time.
