i watched the whole thing, kind of. i ff-ed through people who started to get on my nerves (all of the groups except the doomed brewer boys, and phillip lomax, and dexter...). i am very relieved that nicole finally got rid of dexter, and i'm happy with simon's choices. i felt like chris rene was off his game last night, but i'm glad he got to stay. "astro" was really good last night, but WOW does he get on my nerves.
and oy, the groups category is a train wreck.

It's on both Wednesday and Thursday nights this week - 2 hours on Wednesday and 1 on Thursday. I'm exhausted already.

michael slezak on TVLine called it 'american idol: roid rage edition' and now that's my new name for it.

ha!
My super favorites last night were Marcus and Stacy, followed by Drew and Melanie. I kinda hate that Nelly song, but Drew was pretty damn endearing (and semi-awkward, but endearing)! I think Rachel seems so likeable, but she really annoys me in a show-boaty childstar way.

I cannot believe Stacey opened with that number.
WOULD IT BE SO HARD TO CALL IT "CLASSIC" CINEMA NIGHT? OR EVEN "DECENT" CINEMA NIGHT?
I'm still rooting for Drew. Rachel was badass, though.

please tell me i wasn't the only one who noticed brian friedman's RIDICULOUS outfit during drew's rehearsal. leopard-y velour-y hoodie with *matching* leopard-y velour-y capri pants?! and a big ol' pile of gold chains? good god.

Im in the UK and watching both versions,American idol has better acts UK version has better judges, and the burrito guy is really good. However Simon Cowells Botox must have eaten the critical part of his brain, i have never seen him so nice,Paula Abdul judging a singing contest is like Bill the Butcher judging a salt and pepper Tofu showdown,LA reid seems to like any artist who sings a song he has written, and as for Chris Renee being "The Truth" he may well be,if the truth is that he sounds like a bargain basement R Kelly with his tone deaf warbling baby sheep voice :) All sizzle and No vegesausage :)

I'm pretty attached to his story, but Chris Rene was my surprise favorite last night.

i really liked him too. he's just so genuine, even though he's not the best singer in the competition.
astro is polarizing (even to me personally, ha ha), but he really is super talented. still loving drew's voice, but didn't care for her song this week. i'm gad marcus made it through the elimination, and i hope he gets more fun bobby brown/stevie wonder type songs next week. he's awesome at that stuff.
i wonder what happens to paula now? she just sits there with no horse in the race, as it were?

I watched the premiere last night. I am psychologically rooting for Britney over any contestant I saw. I thought the production and behind-the-scenes stuff was ridiculous and catty and almost unbelievably so.

those blonde girls backstage were BANANAS. i mean, come on. but i actually liked a fair number of auditions, and i'm loving the chemistry between the judges already. britney was great and although i knew next to nothing about demi lovato before last night, i really liked her. i love that they both mess with simon and he appears to enjoy it.

It was really good! I think they finally got the chemistry right with the judges. Much better than last year, and I think the editing of the contestants has gotten more interesting as well.
I actually felt bad about how they covered those blonde girls though! Yes they were kind of bisque-y, but now it's been captured on national tv. I don't think they actually meant any harm.

I can't get over the Jerry Springerness of the show, and for that I probably won't be watching.
