Okay so I've decided that not only am I going to make a bunch of seitan and freeze it, I've also decided since the only thing I use soy flour & wheat gluten for is seitan, I'm also going to make a dry mix to keep in an airtight container in the cupboard. (Me = smart sometimes)
My recipe for seitan I'm going to use is: 1/2 cup vital wheat gluten 1/4 cup soy flour
So, my question for you is, what is that separated into "parts"? Is it 2 parts vwg to 1 part soy flour? I'm not too great at math so I wanted to double check before I start trying to make this (so I can dump in about a cup at a time instead of measure out 1/2 and 1/4 cups). So I could do 2 cups vwg & 1 cup soy flour? Or, what I'm really looking for, if I use a 1 lb bag of vwg, I could just use a half lb of soy flour?

Just count your smallest measurement as a part. So 1/4 cup woukd be your 1 part, so 1/2 cup is 2 parts.
You can't mix weight and volume measurements because density comes into play. If you want to go by weight, measure out a volume if each and weigh them.

So I just made a big container of setian mix and have made two big batches of seitan (one chik'n style and one "beef" style)...
I'm making a note here: huge success!

Like lavawitch said, using those measurements, you have 2 parts vwg and 1 part soy flour :)
