I used to occasionally make meatloaf with Gimmie Lean...I can probably find it here but i'd rather use something less processed and cheaper. I only made one recipe out of a book once, and it wasn't good (I think it was either a Sarah Kramer or Robin Robertson recipe). Anyway, I just want something traditional tasting, moist, that won't fall apart. Does anyone have a good recipe?

I make this lentil loaf a lot:

I *think* it tastes traditional. I honestly don't remember much about actual meatloaf other than the crepe my old roommate used to slop together and her family preferred this lentil loaf that I made instead! Maybe that's why she was always so short with me...

I like these two for flavour and texture. About 1/4-1/3 cup ketchup spread on top of the loaf before baking also makes it more traditional tasting for me.

For the lentil loaf I prefer using California brown rice because it seems to hold things together better.

American Vegan Kitchen has a fantastic meatloaf recipe, using tvp and ground seitan. I tested a mexican version, but a more traditional style made it into the book...

This recipe is my favourite. It can be made in a muffin pan for mini meatloaves or in a loaf pan for a regular meatloaf.

Do you have Vegan Table? The loaf recipe in there is great texture wise, but is a little bland. My mom uses that as a base and adds packets of meatloaf seasoning and ketchup on top and the end result is perfect for sandwiches.

I've made the seitan version of Bryanna Clark Rogan's meatloaf (the recipe is on her website.) I personally don't really like seitan, so I think it just tastes okay, but my partner, who used to eat meatloaf all the time pre-gan, LOVES it.

This tastes very like the meatloaf I grew up eating. Since I am bone lazy, I generally just mash up some thawed frozen meatballs, but I imagine you could sub ground seitan or TVP (or even something virtuous like lentils!) instead.

I happen to love the Magic Loaf Studio: http://www.veganlunchbox.com/loaf_studio.html
I do mine with soy crumbles, flax meal, cashews, veggie broth, ketchup, onion, carrot, soy sauce, and italian seasoning. I end up making this about every other week.

I'm making tempeh-oatmeal meatloaf from veg times on Wednesday. I'll let you know how it goes.
