Honestly I don't care too much for this place past their desserts, but not Gracias Madre!!! =[

I mean yeah, if good desserts are at the cost of people being treated unfairly then it's better that they are closing ... but what about my quesadillas?

Alex shared with me the theory that he thinks they're bluffing to get the plantiffs to go for a smaller settlement, by putting all of their former friends and coworkers jobs, and a big part of the Bay Area vegan community, on the line. I am inclined to agree. I think they're being dicks.

The LA Gratitude alone brings in over $4 million annually. I'm pretty sure they're doing alright financially.

I still haven't been to Gracias Madre! They can't close till I've been there! *whine*

I never even went to Cafe Gratitude but I definitely love Gracias Madre. I thought that law suit was over.

I'm a little bummed because CG just opened a branch in Santa Cruz and it's the only all-vegan place in SC... plus, we just don't have that many options, so it was pretty cool to have them here. poop.

plus, that FLAN at GM. worth one last trip to SF just to eat that Flan again!!

It's funny, considering how famously litigious Landmark is, that they should complain that people might pursue lawsuits against them even though they totally don't want them to.

I wasn't impressed the one time I went to GM. I've been meaning to go back and this might be what gets me off my butt. CG was weird but the two times I went I thought they were good, if overpriced.

I feel bad for the employees. Seems like it wasn't a very nice place to work.

After reading the whole article, I agree with the writer. It's not about the lawsuits; something else is going on. On a personal note, I attended one of the informational/recruitment sessions for Landmark. I can understand why some employees would be against attending.

i feel like a shiitake agreeing with this...but i do.

the best thing it had going for it was the company.

Gracias Madre is probably one of my favorite restaurants ever.

The CG in Cupertino changed staff it seemed like every 2 weeks. This explains a whole lot.

I will miss the food though. I better head over to Gracias Madre before it closes down.

i'm pretty sure gracias madre is actually my favorite restaurant of ever. we ate there two days in a row when we visited SF last november because we loved it so much. i'm kind of heartbroken.

this article in East Bay Express is definitely worth reading. After I read it I came straight over here to see what PPK SF was saying.

My sister lives in East Bay and when visiting I have been to Cafe Gratitude more than 2 or 3 times, once for my 40th BD. She is obsessed, I was willing to go along for the raw mint choc chip shake if nothing else. I've played Abounding River with friends here in NYC.

I'd never heard of Landmark before. Anyone else here have anything good, bad, or otherwise to say about Landmark?

Don't feel bad. I never understood the hype either, except for the pie and flan, which is how I feel about their raw places too.

I was invited to one of their hard-sell high-pressure recruiting sessions, under false pretenses. It's mind control bullshiitake mixed with a few self-help truisms, basically. If you don't relish the idea of having someone try to obliterate your personality, you probably won't appreciate Landmark's charms.

I witnessed an encounter between two Landmark participants outside Whole Foods on their patio a few weeks ago. One girl was literally screaming at the other, it was very intense.
It started out like two friends meeting for coffee, at first person A was asking Person B "what she though of it". I assume she meant the person B's weekend, but it became clear she was speaking about a seminar or forum or whatever they call em. Person B started describing it using very airy and vague terms. at one point Person A asked how a certain thing made person B feel. Thats when the yellign started, apparently her answer was not acceptable to person A because she began screaming "NOOOOOOO! Thats NOT how you feel", or something similar. Sounded like she was trying to force a certain interpretation or something, i dont know, but what ever it was she was yellign it very loudly. It was disturbing. I get nervous around yelling or slamming doors (even if its the wind) so maybe Im hyper sensitive but it seemed pretty intense. Im very surprised they were not asked to leave.

I hope a more publicly appealing business like Cinnaholic or Souley vegan takes their spot at the Oakland whole foods. Would love a souley vegan cafe there. OR how about Tofu Yu, they lost their retail space in Berkeley a while ago, not sure how vegan friendly the over all company is but people seem to like em.

Overall while im not happy about the loss of job im not sad to see CG go, adding in the shady business practices to the culty stuff and the biodynamic farm.
i also just didnt like how they perpetuated the image of vegan food being very overpriced rabbit food and vegans being a bunch of hippies.

I never ate at GM, though it sounded somewhat good. I kinda avoided them after looking into CG

Landmark reminds me of Scientology which is not a good thing.
