I put mine up this past weekend and they are being remarkably good so far. But are very, very interested.

My SO and I are arguing about either putting up a tree (him) or decorating a small plant (a norfolk tree I have) for Christmas like I did last year. We have 2 kitties, but haven't put up a tree since we brought them home. I have a lot of sentimental and fragile ornaments I don't want destroyed, and I have an odd feeling that Olivia (kitty) in particular will be in the tree while Maynard (other kitty) will spend his time meticulously ripping each ornament down to play with. What should we do ppk? Maybe it's time for a Christmas ladder!

I'm thinking of stringing some lights around Buhbah's empty box tower.

Robynn, go for it! I thought mine would destroy it instantly but they've hardly messed with it at all. Sometimes they sit and chew on the ends of the branches, but nothing too crazy.

My old roomie and I used to just hang a big wreath so it was horizontal from a hook in the ceiling and hang our favorite ornaments on that so the cats couldn't get to it.

I thought of this thread today... Our older cat, Mido, never really thought twice about the Christmas tree, but our younger cat, Momo, immediately jumped inside it when we brought it home. Though a few sprays with some water taught him (we hope) to keep away. He was nearly soaking wet once the message finally got across, though. I think we're going to be ornament-free this year. It's like a cat tower filled with toys to him!

Ha! Between the cat and the baby, I think we're going ornament free too - except for the completely unbreakable ones.

Yeah, we're thinking about soft or plastic ornaments this year. Or maybe I will just string up all his current cat toys. Why not.

I have a rat rescue friend who has figured out that her tree will not be for her as long as she owns rats and now decorates for the sole purpose of her rats enjoying it. She gets the best pictures.

I think felt ornaments are cute (and unbreakable). Cats in Christmas trees are the best!

We're just decorating a big houseplant we have with plush ornaments from Etsy shops (like Panda with Cookie). By the end of last holiday season, the cats had napped so much IN the tree that most of our ornaments had been smashed and there was pine needles everywhere.
