I have people tell me I'm not a 'real' doctor frequently (I'm not sure I'm a real anything just yet ;)!
Who knows?

So, who is finished with finals?!

I have approximately 1 2/3 pages left to write, edit, and send. Then I'm close to never seeing my campus.. for a few weeks.

Maybe this is for my own peace of mind, but only about 5/6 of a page to go!

Yay, P-J!
I still have pretty much a whole essay to write. I have about 1/3 of a rough draft written and heaps of literature for it but I just can't figure out the angle I want to take with it and I keep getting stuck reading one thing and looking at another and before I know it, it's two hours later and I've not written a single word.
Thank goodness for extensions.

Not graduate school but uhh...

In my human development class, I was told that I had an A in the class and no need to show up for the final. I also got my last writing assignment back and the teacher said I was the best writer in the class. It is a bit unfair in that I have a BS and MS so it was something I've had to work on but writing has always been my nemesis. There are a couple other students with either a BS/BA in the class and another with an MA I believe.

So that leaves Microbiology for tomorrow and then I'm unofficially done.

I have the last group paper due tomorrow, and it's nearly done so I'm not very stressed about it. Then I have the GIS final, which has 37 (!) pages of maps/models so far, though I need to add 2-3 pages detailing exactly what I did and why I did it. Then there's just the take-home stats final, which I'm about 1/4 done with--I actually feel pretty on top of things.

I answer this by saying I'm going to be the kind of doctor who doesn't help people.

Haha! I think I will use that from now on, if you don't mind.

Okay, only 1/2 page left. I can do this!

baaah, this scholarship application needs to be done already. Yes? Great.

But really, I'd rather be a PhD than an MD any day of the week.

That was a painful process, I hope they made it easier.

Congrats, linanil, that's awesome!!
Well done, pastabake!

Wrote more words, still not a complete rough draft. Forrrrrk. My head hurts and I'm totally distracted.

The hottest kind of doctor. Obviously.

I have my federal income taxation of individuals final on Tuesday and then a 1200 word paper due on the 20th. And for some reason the character and fitness stuff is due to the Bar by the 15th (unless I want to pay another $200) which is silly to have it due during finals but there you have it. So, I am studying for the final, taking the final, finishing my character and fitness application, having a date, writing my paper, then going out drinking with my classmates on Thursday. The date and the drinking are the motivation to study for this horrid exam.

Its not too bad, I just went through and did it in less than 3 hours. They are starting the PsyDs way early this year, the first semester!

How is your work going? Do you have a similar schedule in Scot?

Hang in there Fizzgig! It sounds like you have a lot going on!

good luck everyone!

Here is the advice from my tax book on doing section 1h tax code work: "one might want to indulge in a shot or two of a good liquid 'collectible' before trying to become such a trapeze artist and swing through the section"
The collectible referred to is alcohol. This inspires confidence.

I'm not celebrating the end of the quarter since I've now entered the death march stage where I'm my own boss, which means that there is no vacation. ever. Data collection ahoy!

Ouch, I don't think I could handle being my own boss just yet.

I'm finally done with finals and practicum picking! I just have to go to a few meetings this week! So… as I see it I'm done! I'm planning on getting my swap box together. Are any of you participating in that this year?

Yes, that's much earlier, so that's great. I hope you get one of your top three! So glad you're finished, well done!!

I have work placement (internship) next semester. Way less formal of a process than at TCS. I basically found my own site (which is an option, I guess! Or they'll place you) and the head of my programme is going to meet with who is hopefully going to be my supervisor and see if it will work. Fingers crossed. Everything is just a little faster here since it's a one-year programme. Classes, internship, dissertation in one year.

haha, fizz, that's great.

I am so close to finishing my first year report (/ mini-MA thesis).
Also!! I happened to talk to another ph.d. student about something - completely random - and now she's going to share her data with me and we're going to collaborate on her children's storytelling project! To celebrate, she lent me some Dutch kids books and (no joke) I could understand them! Ok, they're just picture books, but I had 2 weeks of Dutch half a year ago. Good job brain!

Sorry, I'll come back and read the rest of this, but I'm doing finals this week...and have about 15 pages left to write...5 of which is due to procrastination, 10 of which I got assigned very recently. Yay. If I make it through this semester I'm NEVER procrastinating again, for real. I already have a study/work schedule plus rewards set up for myself next semester!!

I've got my chocolate out to eat and I'm ready to attack this essay for a bit.

It seems like they should round GPA's instead of truncating them. For example, a 3.999 = a 3.99 and not a 4.0.

Ok, first year report. 65 pages, 19.7k words. I seriously just need a damn summary and then I can send it off and go home (where I can worry about abstracts, paper submissions, experimental stimuli and other crucial mad scientist-y things).

Do they not do this? In my experience they do.

Lutin, that's longer than my dissertation has to be.
Good luck, bekki!

I got up at 3:45am and reworked the edits on the essay, worked on my ethics form and plain language statement, fell asleep, and now I need to get back on it.

Chai or hot chocolate will get you through anything! Rock it, Meggs!
And yeah, seriously. This report is a monster.
