I would've totally checked yesterday if I knew what you guys were talking about. I got the tofu cubano, which was really good, and Dynah's nacho slice looked really good too.

They really need sicilian pronto. I tried that Joe's pizza one in Rittenhouse that was mentioned. It was deeecent but the tomato part was sugary! I don't like the sweet.

I went here yesterday with my friend and we split sandwiches. The bbq portabello is really good...but the tofu cubano (senza Daiya, of course) is INCREDIBLE. Incredible.

I can't imagine going to Blackbird and not getting pizza! But I want to try the sandwiches too.

New expanded menu at Blackbird! Chickpea parm, lemon pepper tofu wraps, griled veggie wrap, chickpea tuna wrap, theyre smoking their own tofu now, so the cubano is slightly different, soups!
Last night I went to Gunner's Run in nolibs, they were having a free show and a special extended vegan menu. They had these awesome seitan wings (similar and maybe better than those at The Abbaye) that Mark from Blackbird actually made. I bugged him today to put them on the menu. Next time you lovelies go for a slice, bug him too. Those wings seriously ruled.

Gracia, what's interesting about the chickpea parm is that I was expecting a chickpea/wheat gluten type patty. But it wasn't at all. It's made simply with chickpea flour, water and spices, then breaded and fried. It's deeelicious. I want them in nugget form with a side of french fries.

I saw that on their FB page! I can't wait to try it. I've been begging my local vegan eatery in NJ to come out with a vegan "chicken" parm forever. So screw them, I'm going to Blackbird!

I've already had the Chickpea Parm sandwich twice. As xstartxtodayx said, it's a nice, simple breaded chickpea flour patty that is delicate inside and super-crunchy on the outside. Pretty freakin' perfect. Surprisingly good, actually.
I've also had the new smoked tofu cubano. I'm not sure I could tell the difference. The tofu seemed to be maybe softer?
Has anyone tried the new BBQ sandwich, made with oyster mushrooms? I'm not a mushroom fan. It was truly a miracle that I even tried and liked the Portobello version. I'm afraid of the new one. Help!

blackbird is on level up!!!!!!! (they're a loyalty program.) sign up with my link and we both get $5 to use anywhere. https://www.thelevelup.com/join/43950now the blackbird-specific deets: you get $3 for your first visit (which you can totally combine with your $5 generic credit), and then after you spend $60, you'll get another $6. (not sure about subsequent loyalty levels.) so forking excited!!!

Awesome! So I've never used this - you don't buy a Blackbird specific coupon or anything? It just gives you $3 credit when you go?
Also Sweet Freedom is on the list!

yeah! it's automatically loaded on to everyone's account. no "claiming" or "reserving" or anything. they are available for everyone. yay!
there's also basic 4, and apparently atiya ola's? (but they might not actually be veg. i have no idea. one place says one thing, but then xstartxtodayx says another. unless they've completely overhauled their menu)
and fuel (which i've heard might be friendly) and santa fe burrito, and mugshots, and cedar's, and a full plate and homeslice! and they're always adding more.

Amazing! Yeah Fuel is vegan friendly! Also has a juice bar. But probably nothing compared to Jar Bar which I have to go to still. This is great, thanks!

How do you all feel about their new homemade seitan for the cheesesteaks? I think it is so much better than the Upton's stuff that they were using before...much more tender.
Sadly, I do not like the oyster mushrooms for the BBQ sandwich. They are more mushroomy than I thought they'd be. Being a mushroom-hater is hard sometimes..
