So, there seems to be this epidemic at work of people taking a dump and then trying to cover up the smell by spraying Lysol in the air. That's there to disinfect the seat, not freshen the air. And air fresheners never help with poop smell. They just make the air smell like flowery poop.
What's your biggest peeve right now?

On tv shows and movies when there's a big misunderstanding and then one of the main characters comes out never hearing the truth and just forgives blindly. Drives me bat shiitake.

This, and also, it irritates me to see 555 as the phone prefix. Really? Will people actually think that a phone number belongs to the celebrity (or worse, the character) and attempt to psycho-stalk someone based on a phone number they saw on TV?

Not necessarily, but people WILL try to call it. When the song "Jenny" came out, lots of people tried to dial 867-5309. Snopes has a thingy on it.

People saying "anyways"... I almost hate it more than "ain't".
Also, toiletly-related, I hate it that people don't check to make sure their shiitake flushed down... I hate walking in, ready to go, and as soon as I turn from closing the stall there is a big chunk of poopy or (more often) a wad of toilet paper just floating in there...

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say it's a bad idea to turn this thread toward grammar.
What are your favorite non-language-related peeves? XD

People in cars that don't wave (or at least nod) when you let them out.
People that don't say thank you when you hold/open the door for them.
People (usually men) that won't go through the door you are holding open and further try to hold the door open for you.
People that don't graciously accept a "Thank you". Things like You're welcome, it was my pleasure, I was happy to do it are all acceptable. Dismissive responses such as Sure, It was nothing, and No problem really annoy me.
ETA: Oops, is that language related?? I consider it more of an etiquette issue...

This becomes a huge peeve and a friggin' major safety issue at work. I've stood up from cleaning a kennel and smacked my head right on the corner of a cabinet door on more than one occasion. Instant 2-day headache.

And I secretly (not really all that secretly) laugh any time some one bumps a cupboard door they left open.

Hehe, its the only way I make it through my daily commute. I play bumper cars in my head too. The mental image of running people off the road is soothing.

These days I think 95% of my pet peeves are bus related. The other day I flat out scolded some college students who start rushing onto a bus before me and my toddler could get off. Guys! Come on! WAIT and see if anyone is getting off the bus and if they are, let them off first!

I absolutely hate when men won't let women get on the bus first. Such a small gesture of chivalry, but nope, not here, not this town. That is seriously my only peeve these days but I feel so strongly about it that it makes up for all others.

In general I think it'd be better for all of us if we ALL refrained from eating on the bus, right? But I have a serious problem with people who eat DORITOS on the bus. Cool Ranch Doritos smell like dirty asparagus socks and I would not ever have known this if so many college kids around here didn't eat them on the damn bus.

Yes on the bus rudeness. I hate when I'm standing right where the bus is going to pull up and, when it does, I step forward only to have someone who was waiting 10 feet away barge in front of me to get on the bus first. And people with giant backpacks who stand in the aisle when there are 20 open seats - you're in the forking way so sit your asparagus down. And bus drivers who impatiently wave you onto the bus if you dare to pause a moment to see if anyone is coming off; they're inevitably the same driver who will snark at you if you don't remember to pause a moment to see if anyone is coming off. Sorry I can't do anything right, grumpypants.
