I will be by myself in San Francisco on Christmas day. Anyone know of any vegan-friendly food options that will be open? Or just things to do in general?

My husband and I are alone on Xmas this year so we think we are going to go up to SF and go for dim sum and just wander around.

Edit - Sorry, should have mentioned that we are going to try Yank Sing. On another thread someone posted that they had decent vegan dim sum offerings.

That place looks good! A little fancier than I'm looking for, but I will probably also end up eating Asian food. I will probably head to Chinatown (half the city will probably have this same idea, so I predict craziness) and see if Loving Hut is open. Wandering is also on my agenda because I doubt there will be much else to do.

Loving Hut will totally be open. I've gotten my lunch there three times this week (I've been hella lazy this week!), and they've got a big ol' sign saying they'll be open. They also have vegan fortune cookies! But the fortunes are stupid quotes from Supreme Master, boo.

Also check out Lucky Creation on Washington, they should be open every day but Wednesday and have awesome cha siu bao!

Thanks Erika! I emailed Loving Hut and received no response, so you saved me a phone call. I may go there for lunch and Lucky Creation for dinner if I'm feeling wild and crazy.

CRAZAY!!! Also, while you're in that area, you can stop in at Vesuvio if you feel like a drink. They are open 365 days a year starting at 6am, and Jordan and I have a dream that one day we'll have a 6am Christmas beer there.

So, I did make it over to Loving Hut for lunch. They were rude to me but the pho was okay.

Also, everyone in the world was in Chinatown today. The sidewalks were just shoulder to shoulder people. Is it normally like that? I've been there before but I don't recall crowds like that. Maybe it was just Christmas/everything else being closed + locals doing their Sunday shopping = perfect storm of awfulness.

The Chinese food in my neighborhood was closed on Christmas. Everything was closed! My friend and I called a billion places and ended up getting pizza in the Mission because it was the only thing we could find that was open.

What the hell, Chinese restaurants. Didn't they know it was Christmas?!

Japantown was mostly closed too. I went over there first because it was closer to my hotel. Daiso was open, though! I bought a cheap donut cutter and a banana holder!
