I went to Disneyland recently and noticed they had signs in the bathrooms that read something like this:
1. Put soap in hands 2. Wash hands 3. Dry throughly with Brawny paper towels
Then, walking around, I noticed construction barriers reading "We're going green!" all around California Adventure. What the heck?! Next time I go, I'm tempted to put those stickers that say "Remember, these come from trees" on the paper towel dispensers. Although I have a feeling they'll be removed within hours. Maybe I should write a letter?
I don't know too much about how it balances out, but from what I've noticed and heard, it's more environmentally sound to use dryers.

I thought Disney was above this kind of insidious commercialism!

So yeah, product placement for sure. I noticed a lot of the rides were "brought to you by..." so I'm not surprised. I guess I'm just thinking, can't Disneyland afford their own rides? Don't they make enough money to build them on their $8 corn dogs and $5 cups of black coffee?

I've got to say, I'm guilty of using paper to dry sometimes. My hands take so long to dry using the hand-dryer! However, I do like the new, more powerful machines that you stick your hands into. I laughed at the product placement too.

However, I do like the new, more powerful machines that you stick your hands into. I use a paper towel when the bathroom looks filthy and like it hasn't been cleaned in weeks. I use it after I've dried to grab the handle and open the door. Ever since I volunteered in a hospital and they told me how dirty those handles are and how easily they spread germs I started doing it. But the places that use those awesome machines that are space-age and you dunk your hands into a stream of air or it's a super jet...I don't bother. Usually they are movie theaters or fancy places that are clean enough for me to avoid the paper towel trick. Sometimes, I try to duck in behind some person who touched the handle in front of me and get in on their exit.

The dryer in our bathroom at work is stuck in this position where it blow the hot air right into your face. Some times I try to hold my hands out, but most of the time just give up and give my hair an extra blow out.

Paper towels are more sanitary like has been mentioned, and you can use them to turn off the faucet and open the door. That's why I love where I work, I get to unabashedly use paper towels because right next to the bathroom doors are composting bins, and the paper towels are the recycled kind. Yes, it is annoying when all you can do with the towel after is throw it away in regular trash. :(

Do I get to be the first hippy-dippy dirtbag on the new boards???? Yay!
I USE A HANKY to dry my hands, and bring a cloth napkin when i go out to eat. Am I not disgusting? I'm saving the earth, dude. At our business we have cloth towels in the bathroom. One day someone will complain but til then, we're a hippy establishment.

I hate hand dryers so much. I always just shake my hands and then smooth down my fly away hairs with the last of the water. But I feel like there really isn't a scientific consensus on one over the other Quote: Opting for a hand dryer over towels hardly earns you an environmental halo, as the net difference in long-term carbon emissions is minuscule at best. http://www.slate.com/id/2193740/

Imitation Of Chris wrote: I like those dyson airblade things, and I really really like the Xlerator!!! http://www.exceldryer.com/PressKit/I'm a hand dryer connoisseur. YES! I love those Xelerators! I've used the airblade once and it was cool but I love getting to see all the bones in my hands because the xelerator is strong enough to push the skin all the way in. Anyway, I use papertowels when its really cold or my clothes are really dirty and I don't want to wipe my hands on them, otherwise I wipe on shirt. I will also use an itty bitty piece of paper if they give me the chance. I hate the "preparing for the next person" some people do and dangle out like 2 ft of towel. Its for sanitary reasons, but I don't like the 2 feet! There was a gas station that we'd stop at at work that still had the rotating cloth towel thingy. I miss those even if they are probably gross as hell.

I usually use my wet hands to fix my hair. But if it's really cold or something, I prefer towels to air dryers; I also use them for the door handle and faucet.
