If you have a) a decent blender, b) all the ingredients to hand, and c) the level of motivation required to get it all out, make it, wash it all up and put it all away again afterwards! I can't imagine why anyone would go to the faff of making a their own Shakeaway at home instead of just buying it. Mind you, I feel exactly same way about soya milk and tofu.

I just looked at the Shakeaway menu online, and I can't even see cucumber on there any more. Would it have been a special, or have they just stopped doing it? Also - anyone tried a hot one?

it's in the arndale centre, just inside the lower market street entrance opposite boots. ask them for the vegan menu list!

they've changed the menu recently, so it's possible cucumber is no longer there.

i haven't tried a hot shake yet, but the boy has, and he seemed to like it. his wasn't vegan, but i don't think that would make much difference.

I usually have peanut butter, banana and maple syrup. Not often though as the combination of flavours costs over £6!

well thanks (in part) to this thread, cidersmurfette and i went into the manchester branch again today.
i can confirm that cucumber is indeed on the list of options you can select (although quite why you would is beyond me!)...

today, i went with chocolate and cherry and it was very rich/strong flavoured, but very good with it.

CS ordered ginger nuts and maple syrup, but after a minute or two they came over and told us they'd ran out of maple syrup so she just stuck with ginger nuts on their own. i thought it tasted good, but she said she felt it was missing that extra little kick the maple gives it.

There's also a little stall in the food bit of the Arndale market called "Milkshake" - pretty similar to Shakeaway and pretty much all the same vegan items for the same price, but I sometimes go there instead as it's nice to support the little guys and it's about 5 minutes closer to my flat.

My personal favourite is Peanut Butter & Ginger Nuts - soooo LUSH!

The one near us was a franchise in a weird place and closed. Sad face. I lived on peanut butter banana and malt shakes when I was Darn Sarf and too busy to stop for proper meals.

So I tried a sample of my shake hot, and it was pretty good. I can't think of a way to describe it other than a milkshake, but hot. And that gingernut and maple syrup combo is my new go-to shake. It's so good. I might get a hot one next time I'm in.

don't know where in London you are, but there are 3 locations within the M25.

Tim says the one in Bristol looks like it's closing down. i hope it's not so :/

It could be because they already had Shakeoholic, but Shakeaway opened and closed in Newcastle within what seemed about a month. I was super disappointed when my bff and I tried to find it, and even more disappointed to learn that the Shakeoholic we bypassed actually would've served me.

The one nearest me closed down last year. It was in a town much smaller than Bristol, (woooo Chippenham) and I'm not surprised it went.

There's one about 5 minutes from my house. I keep meaning to go in, but have always just eaten or had coffee whenever I go by. I'm going to make gingernut-maple happen sometime this week.

I went to Shakeaholic in Newcastle today. I hate to say it (because Shakeaway is my only option in Edinburgh), but I prefer them! They didn't have gingernuts, so I just had a bourbon biscuit shake. But they use Swedish Glace (confirmed, unless they store Tofutti in a Swedish Glace container), which I think is what makes the difference. It was sooo good. I can't even imagine how much better the gingernut/maple syrup one would've been if I could've gotten it from there.

They're opening one in London on the 29th of March and the menu for this place seems amazing! Is there a vegan or allergy guide that you guys go after when deciding what to have?

If you ask in store, they should have a vegan friendly ingredients list. The Manchester branch does anyway.

Last time I went their menu had stars next to the vegan ingredients and then you just asked for soy milk/ice cream, but I hear they don't do that anymore. :(

They have two Shakeaways in Southampton. The first one I went to today didn't have any soya milk and the second one didn't have any bloody ginger nuts! Knackers!

So I went to the Art House and had vegan nachos followed by swedish glace caramel sundae so I won in the end...
