So I looked and looked...and I couldn't find a thread? WHHHY? Link me if I missed it.
Anywho...I had lost this book, which was incredibly sad since it was my first vegan cookbook and i love it, and recently found it again!
So what are your favorites? Suggestions?
I am thinking of making the kniches this weekend. How easy are they to make? Alternate filling?
My favorites (the first 4 I make so often i dont need the recipe anymore!)
Pad Thai Sun Dried Tomato and mushroom Risotto - great for Omni guests Scrambled Tofu Roased Brussel Sprouts - only way i make them Moroccan Tangine (made last week, first time - SUPER GOOD) Best pumpkin muffins Pancakes sparkled ginger cookies Roasted Garlic white bean soup
What else guys?

my favourites! -tempeh and white bean sausage patties (which i've actually only made once, but are SO delicious that my 14 year old meatatarian nephew ate them!) -sweet potato hash with five-spice and watercress -herb-roasted potatoes (so easy and simple, but delicious) -fronch toast -pancake recipe is my go-to -coconut pancakes w/pineapple sauce -> the sauce is super! -glazed orange scones -the best pumpkin muffins -apple pie-crumbe cake muffins (these are the most wonderful apple muffins ever!) -potato asparagus soup -curried split pea soup -tofu dill salad sammiches -chickpea hijiki salad sammiches -mashed potatoes with punk rock chickpea gravy (SO good!) -braised cauliflower with three-seed sauce -sesame asparagus (really easy!) -roasted brussels sprouts with toasted garlic (amazing) -basil tofu ricotta (don't even need the recipe, i've made it so often!) -the marinade for italian tofu is a hit -brooklyn pad thai -sparkled ginger cookies -chocolate chip cookies -buttery lemon cutout cookies -banana split pudding brownies - pretty good, maybe needs something on top of the banana layer for prettiness though! -raspberry-chocolate chip blondie bars (AMAZING, used these in an interview where i had to have a pairing for my coffee, and i definitely got the promotion) -raspberry blackout cake -coconut heaven cupcakes -mexican chocolate rice pudding (this is totally so overlooked, it's really good!)
i guess i've made lots from this book, but flipping through it, i still see so many recipes i want to try! i'd say a good 98% of the things i've made were delicious! (ETA: 98, because i don't really like tempeh and thought the mango tempeh sammich was gross. no fault of isa's. her tempeh sausage patties win me over for tempeh though!)

I've made the following a bazillion times:
- banana pecan pancakes - apple pie crumb cake muffins - curried split pea soup - potato-edamame samosa (usually find a sub for the dough part, due to laziness) - tofu dill sandwiches -balsamic-glazed portobellas -CHICKPEA & SPINACH CURRY (#1 repeated recipe ever) -cold udon w. peanut sauce & seitan -SPARKLED GINGER COOKIES (#1 repeated cookie recipe ever) - pumpkin oatmeal cookies
I've only made it four (4) times, but the ginger-macadamia-coconut-carrot cake always wows people.

I still make the curried split pea soup allatime. It's one of my favourite quicky meals. I also love the gigantic (ginormous?) peanut butter oatmeal cookies.

I think the tofu scramble recipe is probably the one thing I make most in the world. The raspberry blackout, maple mustard glazed string beans and potatoes, fronch toast, white bean and roasted garlic soup, tofu dill salad, basil tofu ricotta, and pad thai are all semi-regulars as well.

How could I forget the Chickpea gravy and the Fronch toast? I love both of those as well.
Got to try the Matzo soup.
Anyone tried the kniches? They sound kinda fun to make.

Everything I've made has been great, but the pancake and pizza recipes are my go-to recipes for those things.

Has anyone successfully made the green thai curry? That's my only vegan cooking fail, ever. It was SO bitter and I kept trying to add more maple syrup but it just never worked out and I had to toss it. I followed the recipe exactly and I wish I could identify what made it taste that way so I could make a substitution. I'm wondering if it was the serranos?

My copy is covered in flour and sugar and other misc bits of sauce and goodness. It is very well loved. My favorites are the punk rock chickpea gravy, scrambled tofu, raspberry blackout cake, and the pizza recipes.

I just made it a couple weeks ago, and it was great. Maybe a couple diversions from the exact recipe... I used dried lemongrass, let it simmer in the sauce, then took it out, and I used Mexican green peppers (how they were labeled in the store), because they were out of thai chilies.

I want them to release it with wipe clean pages, mine is totally covered in flour, tofu, etc. My favourite at the moment is the Spanikopita. Just made it for lunch - drooooooooool.

Yeah, I got my friend a copy for <winter holiday>, and when it came in the mail.. I was dumbstruck. The pages were *crisp*! And so *clean*! I Mine are covered in tomato and cumin and turmeric and stuff. I thought they had always been brownish-yellow.

Was planning on making it again soon. I followed the recipe exactly, I think, though might have subbed jalapenos for serranos (not sure, made it a long time ago, but serranos aren't always easy to find and I often sub jalapenos.) Pretty much the table of contents lists my fave everythings in this book. This weekend, I made the macadamia blondies and subbed the tofu with vanilla soy yogurt and they're perfectly delicious as I remembered. I've also been craving the tofu dill sammiches from this book like mad lately.

This was my vegan gateway cookbook. I honestly don't know what I would have been eating in high school if I didn't purchase it from my local bookstore.
I hate to say this, but I haven't cooked a lot of things from it. There are too many times when I'll see something and won't have a lot of ingredients. Not so much right now, but in the past definitely. Two of the recipes I have used most often of any recipe are the pancakes and chocolate chip cookies, both of which are pure brilliance. I'm also a big fan of the summer corn chowder, banana pecan pancakes, and now the Jerk seitan (holy wow!).
I made a list of all the things I want to make from VWAV, and there are literally around 50 things. On the top of my list are coconut pancakes, tempeh sausage patties, all 3 knishes (I don't know what these are but I want to put it in my mouth so bad), spanakopita, gnocchi with pesto, spicy Indian rice, Brooklyn pad thai, revolutionary omelet (!!!), raspberry blackout cake (no, I honestly have never made this), maple walnut cookies, and... well yeah, you get ze picture.

Made the Pad Thai for the first time thanks to this thread and I am addicted. I hadnt expected it to really sate my pad thai cravings! I made it 2x in a week.

This was my first vegan cookbook I actually used and is my go-to in terms of tried-and-true favorite recipes. I still have pages bookmarked that I can't wait to try.
What I've Loved: -Tofu Dill Sammiches -Chickpea Hijiki Sammiches -Pancakes: spectacular with or without add-ins -Tempeh Bacon -Banana Oatmeal Raisin Waffles -Ginger Pear Waffles -Pumpkin Waffles -The Best Pumpkin Muffins: not an exaggeration in the slightest -White Bean Tempeh Patties: even my skeptical omni dad liked these -Tempeh Crumbles: so versatile for everyday cooking -Punk Rock Chickpea Gravy: my favorite gravy of all time -Mashed Potatoes -Garlic-y Kale -Italian Marinated Tofu -Chickpea Spinach Curry -Pumpkin Oatmeal Cookies: really yummy when you sub persimmon puree for pumpkin -Chocolate Chip Cookies: will disappear quickly in any household -Gigantoid Peanut Butter-Oatmeal Cookies -Ginger Sparkle Cookies -Gingerbread Apple Pie -Sun-dried Tomato Pesto -Basic Pesto -Roasted Brussels Sprouts -Curried Split Pea Soup -Fronch Toast -5-Spice Sweet Potato Hash -Tofu Scramble -Curried Carrot Bisque: I lived on this stuff my junior year of college
What I've... Not Loved: -Chickpea Broccoli Casserole: I couldn't even eat this as it was so vulgar to my taste buds. Chickpeas and broccoli are my favorite foods, so I'm convinced either I did something wrong or I just hate casseroles. -Pizza Dough: I'm still searching for that perfect pizza dough recipe.

I've made the pancakes and best pumpkin muffins so much, my book is almost worn out, and I still have so many things to try. Oh, and my one and only seitan try was from VWAV, via Heavy Metal Vegan Cooking video.
