Does anyone (other than Annie?) actually live in Nashville? This is where I'm from, and my husband and I are moving back in like 3 months.
JEEZ, rentals have gotten expensive. I really expected to be paying less than Tampa, but it doesn't look like that's going to happen.
Not really relevant to anything. Just curious.

I'm in Nashville...grew up on the south side and now live in East Nashville. What side of town are you trying to move to?

We don't have a ton of options, because we need a pet-friendly place with enough room for my husband's music equipment and a fenced yard, but East Nashville is our number one choice. We also like Germantown, Sylvan Heights, and Green Hills... so basically all the non-cheap areas. I lived in Green Hills and went to high school in East Nashville, so both of those places are familiar and comfortable. I also lived in Donelson and Hermitage a bit in elementary/middle school, and those aren't totally out of the picture, but not ideal either. Antioch is really the only area we absolutely want to stay out of.

Yeah I grew up not far from Antioch (and my husband taught there for a bit). My husband and I lived in Green Hills from 1995-2003 in teeny little houses and duplexes that were cheap, but I'm not sure that kind of stuff is still around anymore. Having lived in Nashville since I was 8, I have to say that East is by far my favorite part of Nashville now. Did you go to East Lit or Stratford? Just being nosy. I'll pass on any rentals I hear about. :)

If it gets to be within a month or so of moving and we find the perfect place online, we may send family to go snag it for us, and just pay the extra month's rent.

My mom's going to check out a house for us tomorrow, since we're still in Florida, but apparently dude's already got like 3 other showings. UGH, competition. Fingers crossed!

It was a pain in the asparagus, but we signed a lease for a house in South Inglewood/East Nashville. Relief!

Yay! I like Nashville, before we knew Brian was going back to school I told him i'd happily stay in TN if he got a job in Nashville. It's got some big city perks but it's not scary big.

We were there last week for my husband's business trip. The Gaylord Opryland is amazing but I didn't see much in choices for eating there. I ate at The Wild Cow, Brixx Pizza (Greek pizza really good), and Italia Pizza & Pasta (recommend take out, I wasn't impressed with the place but the pizza was good).

We'll be within the delivery zone for Italia. I'm really excited about the normalcy of being able to order pizza delivery.

I'm in Memphis, but we occasionally make day-trips to Nashville to hit up Trader Joe's and a Whole Foods that doesn't suck. We generally try to have meet-ups with other Nashville people (like johnp!), so maybe we can meet up next time we visit!

Thanks!

Yippee! Creep, that its so awesome that you're on the Eastside! My husband teaches at Inglewood Elementary. We live behind the Eastland Kroger right now but we're moving to Shelby in the next couple of weeks. We should meet up!

My sons went to Inglewood Elementary last year and the year before! They had Mrs. Rider and Ms. Holland. What grade/subject does your hubby teach?

So I was working with a bunch of crazy people for a couple months, and needless to say, it didn't go well. I'm on the job search again if anyone knows of anything awesome! I have a bunch of experience working with animals, dog grooming certification, a bachelors degree in mass comm (broadcasting) with a minor in photography, and some sweet computer skillz. Versatile or all over the place? Not sure.

Hi Nashvillians,
Any suggestions for vegan-friendly restaurants downtown near the Convention Center/Printer's Alley?
Thank you in advance for helping me not starve while at my conference.

Broadway Brewhouse has a beans & rice dish. Italia pizza will deliver there. That's about all I know in that area.

Thank you, Creep! Maybe I'll just get pizza delivered to my hotel room at steady intervals....
I need to find a place in walking distance of the Sheraton downtown to bring a big group of vegans/nonvegans and have no idea where to go. The Brewhouse is an option, but barely has vegetarian options and we'll have a number of veggies. Dining planning is hard from afar!

There are options within a short drive if you have access to a car, but yeah, downtown sucks for food.
