Ok, so my wife and I are from New Mexico (YES, green chile is VEGAN!!!). I have some family in rural Nebraska, and are flying in and out of Omaha and driving out from there at the end of March. Hopefully we can catch some moderately miserable weather - we are used to being spoiled with 320 days of sunshine and about a dozen days below freezing each year :). We are used to scrounging around restaurants for vegan food, but are looking to see what our options are for purely vegan or even veg options for the 1/2 days we have available flying in and out.

I used to live in Sioux City, IA, and we would occasionally go to Omaha and eat at McFoster's Natural Kind Cafe. The name has that 70's ring to it, and who knows, maybe they started it in the '70's. Anyway, I was vegetarian then, but I know it is a vegan friendly place, and it was great to have many choices on the menu. If I remember, there is an Ethiopian restaurant in Omaha, as well.

Being new to this forum, I had no idea the Omaha vegan scene was so formidable! I wish I had known about you back when I was a vegetarian in Sioux City! (I read some thread last night in which you were all out to sushi-It looked like you guys had a lot of fun AND the food looked amazing!). Now, if you know of any vegans up here in Northern Idaho, that would be great... :)

Thanks for the link. My wife and I have been vegan for about a year, so will be an interesting venture.
