I seriously didn't really expect to like GM so much because the Cafe Gratitude thing is so hokey, but I love it.

The kale!
The lunch special! ($10 for a huge torta, pickled veggies, and Caesar salad)
The key lime cheesecake!
Oh and the potatoes with cashew cheese.
And those beans are so forking good. And I'm not a bean person.

It's pricey for Mexican, especially in the Mission, but I love it.

Things that aren't so great:
The Fig Salad: small, mostly just greens, over-dressed
The Sangria: too weak, and with mushy apples.

Yeah I'm a fan of the beans. The squash quesadillas and the tamales are great too.

I love the kale! I've had the mushroom enchilada and tacos which were both really good. I think it is overpriced though. I wish they had free chips and salsa like most Mexican restaurants do but I know they grow their own corn so that would probably not work out for them.

What am I grateful for? I'm grateful for the fact I don't get asked what I'm grateful for when ordering at Gracias Madre. And the excellent food.

This is on my top 3 list of must-go places next time I'm back. It just seems to get better and better from the reviews I've heard. This thread is making me hungry!

so true.

Also, I don't get excited about tamales, but I actually order theirs. SO GOOD.

PAPAS AL HORNOS!!!!!! And I definitely like their enchiladas (a HUUGGGE plus that they have kale on that plate), though I can never finish them.

Their fruity aguas are definitely good... but they are so forking expensive. It kills me!

I also like when they have the fruity dessert crisps on the menu.

Has anyone tried the posole? It looks like a lot of food, but I've never ordered it.

I really wish GM were cheaper. Whenever I opt to go I'm also like "oh, I'll just get something that's $6, like the papas al hornos", but then I want everything on the goddamn menu. I felt really ripped off when I ordered that damn fig salad.

I've tried the posole. It's actually pretty filling, even though it kinda looks like watery soup with loads of tortilla strips in it. The hominy is always completely sunk to the bottom of the bowl, but that always happens with posole... And the stock has a nice spice to it. But if they have their roasted poblano soup on the menu, I'd pick that over the posole.
