I figured it would be good if we could have a place where we could talk about our dogs smelling like corn chips.
Why? Why do dogs smell like corn chips sometimes?
My dog usually has eau de frito in the mornings, or whenever she wakes up from a long nap. Sometimes there is a vague hint of popcorn as well.
Why??!

Yep - Both of them do and I've always wondered why. It's a very distinct plain (no nacho cheese or ranch) smell. They both sleep in our room at night and it can get pretty ripe after a while. I notice it especially after their long walks...is this what their sweat smells like?

THANK YOU.
I say this all the time about the boys' feet, and people look at me like I'm nuts.

My dog has 4" legs, she smells of whatever she has blattered though that day, she sometimes stands on her own poop out in the garden so I don't dare sniff her paws.
In the summer she smells of grass which is heavenly.

It always struck me as more of a popcorn smell, but I guess corn chips works too. His farts especially smell like popcorn and shiitake.

I should have put an option up there for less pleasant smells. My SO's rescued puppy smells like burning tires and strong cheese. Mainly from the farts, but also his poor widdle skin that got all forked up from him being left in the woods to fend for himself for god knows how long...
THAT is a smell I do not find endearing.

yes to corn chips and sometimes popcorn. (popcorn is sooner after her bath and then the corn chips start wafting in.)
her farts smell like chickpeas.

Wow, I had no idea other people thought their dogs smelled like corn chips. I call my dog "Frito Bandito" alot just because of this. Now I have to go tell him that he's not unique. He'll be crushed.
