It is aggravating, but I think these women are just assuming the roles they had in the pre-walker world. I think the only thing that is making Lori want to stay alive though is breaking out of the "female" role and being more one of the guys.
Rick should have left shane on that bus. Now previews from the next episode are already showing him question Rick's authority AGAIN. I do feel kind of bad for Shane though. If you think about it, when he thought Rick was dead, HE was the leader, he had the wife, kid, etc. Then once Rick gets back, it all gets taken away. That paired with the stress of almost dying all the time could make someone lose their shiitake.

I really liked that episode and it was actually scary again! I was really disappointed that next week showed Shane being a shithead thing. I really thought this would be, I don't know, some sort of closure with all that. And it's a relief to watch Rick change. And the women are awful, every single last one (except for the badass women zombies.) And where was Darryl and Glen? And Herschel?
Yeah, how the zombs are communicated is kind of perplexing.

I'm still not sold on scratches being a form of transmission. I couldn't tell, were those two dead officers zombies before they were killed, or were they killed before they could turn into a walker? Maybe they died because someone thought they'd turn and took them out before they could. Also probably one of those we'll never know moments of the show. With all the blood, guts, and saliva flying about I think someone would have turned by now without a bite.
Now Shane, Lori AND Andrea need to go. What's Andrea going to do next time someone has a crisis of faith/not wanting to live, hold the gun to their head?
Just read that next season will have 16 episodes, Yay! And will introduce a character I've heard mentioned from the comics but know nothing about, the Governor. Sounds like they may be running into some more survivors next season, finally.

Yeah, if they could catch the zombs from scratches wouldn't everyone have it? I mean, when people get bit they're not dying from the bite, per se, but because they were infected from the bite. Right? So how would some people have latent zombs?

That's it--we need to have a Universal Precautions class for the zombie apocalypse.
No Glen this episode. Boo.

(14-year-old stoner mode) DUDE shootin through the walker's head was TOTALLY BITCHIN YO (/14-year-old stoner mode)
And MAN Lori and her "That there is men taking care of man things" annoys the crepe out of me, and I'm mildly chauvinistic at the best of times (not really). Dang, woman, grow a spine. I do like her argument that they're trying to keep some sense of stability in the broken world-- I think that's important. But come on, it doesn't have to be a girls-keep-house-while-men-forage thing. Meh.
Anyway, I'm glad Shane got punched a lot.

Especially when you weigh the realistic odds there, because zombie apocalypses are real to me, whoever is foraging is whoever is dying. Throw that little kid out there for supplies, he's not contributing much at all!

I watched three episodes last night so I am caught up now. I LOVED Andrea's smackdown lecture to Lori. Lori is the worst ever ever ever.
And I keep having such conflicted feelings about Shane. I want to like him best but then he goes and tries to kill Rick with a sledgehammer or something.

As much as I hated huge parts of the last episode, I really liked that Rick was pretty badass.

Here I thought I was the only one thinking the female characters were lame and two-dimensional.
Lori's speach to Andrea about the proper role for a women during the Zombie Apocalypse made me want her to get chomped on by the nearest walker.
If the only way to survive the Zombie Apocalypse as a female is to be a good housewife keeping the hearth and home together for the menfolk to come back to after a hard day of zombie hunting, I'm doomed.

I agree and I think Lori is incredibly annoying, but I think the men are just as guilty of perpetuating that gender stuff within the group. Most of the conflict between Shane and Rick is framed in the context of which man can best play the role of "protector," and I am so sick of their paternalistic, acting-like-they-know-what-is-best-for-Lori-and-her-baby-better-than-she-does shtick.

Once the zombie apocalypse happens, I'm opening a hand sanitizer and glove store.

And now that I've seen him with vegan caramels, I take back what I last said. I think it's cool that he's questioning Rick's authority and calling Lori on her bullshiitake. TEAM SHANE!

I know. And I spoiled it from myself. So I'll just hang my head in shame and walk away.

The "tough" face Shane has continuously makes this show almost impossible for me to watch.

Did any of you watch The United States of Tara? Shane's tough face kind of reminds me of Buck, one of Tara's alternate personalities. Except Buck was kind of lovable and I'm not convinced Shane even has a soul.
